I had recently needed to get the Hunger Games for a book club, and WOW I had only read the first chapter when I was AMAZED. I was in LOVE. This book led me into the HG universe, and I cannot escape the WONDERFUL characters.

This is my second read through of this book and it was just as good as the first time. I loved how conflicted Katniss was between Peeta and Gale. I loved how engaged the action kept me. Even the second time through I had to know what was happening next. The Hunger Games truly stands the test of time and is still in my all time favorite books.

The Huger Games is the first book in The Hunger Games trilogy. The Hunger Games trilogy is written by Suzanne Collins, a very well renounced author of the twenty-first century. This novel takes place in a dystopian futuristic time period in the country of Panem, previously known as North America. The nation is split into twelve, very unhealthy districts, all ruled by one very wealthy, thriving capitol. Discovered by the capitol due to the rebellious nature of the lesser districts, The Hunger Games are now an annual event in which two tributes are drafted in the 'reaping' to compete in the games and fight one another to the death. Confined to a manmade arena and inhumane living conditions, the tributes are challenged to be the sole survivor and rewarded with their life. The tributes from District twelve, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, are the spotlight of the book. I would definitely recommend this book someone else. I think specifically to anyone in high school or older, and anyone who's into fantasy, thriller, with a twist of romance. The Hunger Games had me on edge throughout the entire book, with excitement on every page. I never wanted to put the book down!

Love this dystopian view of America's future, the strong young adult characters and their dissing the government. An easy read, but it is dark. Oh, forgot to mention, it is better than then movie.
The odds are definitely in Ms. Collins' favor!

I don't read many young adult books anymore, and it's even rarer to find a book that ISN'T about vampires. Thank god for Suzanne Collins! She does not have the most complicated prose, and I breezed through the book pretty quickly, but it was very entertaining and kept you on your seat. You found yourself cheering for Katniss and booing the Capital and taking gasps of horror even at certain points. Admittedly, the idea of teens killing each other in a battle royale is a bit gruesome, so I might not suggest it for your younger reader, but anyone middle-school and up can appreciate it, and if your child doesn't like reading, maybe this can help change that. I would highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone. May the odds be ever in your favor.

I read from this book all the way through the end of Mockingjay without stopping! Found this book in store at Target and picked it up. The 1st person writing style really makes you feel like you're running for your life right along with Katniss! Love the series!

I, like another reviewer, am in my 30's and love this book. I read this book in three nights and could hardly put it down. I am now waiting to receive the other two books in the series and can hardly wait!

I could not stop reading this book! My neighbor recommended the series, and the next thing I knew I read all three in one week. Even though they are a teen series, I am 30 and my mom, who is currently enjoying them, is in her 60s. Buy this book today and you won't be sorry! I wish I could give 10 stars!

The hunger games is a book that is most likely to get you attention very fast and keep you reading until you are done with the series, it is very exiting and will keep you always wondering what will happen next,something that will rarely happen in most books i read, but however good this book is i must advise you at the end it can get a little bit of gore in there, therefore this is not the kind of book you would read to you little son or daughter that has been begging you to get this book for you to read to them, it could give them nightmares and having them get you up and you have to explain to them that is was just a bad dream and that they need to go to sleep. but besides that it is a very nice book for a more mature audience, i suggest getting it if and only if you have a son or daughter that is about 7; anything under that is just a bit to young for this book.
