The Irish Matchmaker by Jennifer Deibel is another beautiful historical novel about the beloved Emerald Isle. This story features Lisdoonvarna and its matchmaking festival. It was so much fun to experience all the merriment, sparking, and matching of the festival as well as seeing what different responsibilities the matchmakers had during the month-long race to the altar. I love that the author once again brought a less-known historical gem to life in her book. And the characters are excellent. All of them! Catriona and Donal are incredibly genuine and relatable. I loved watching their characters grow throughout the story, and I loved the emphasis on the simple words of the Sermon on the Mount. Having Catriona and Donal grow in their faith and character made me love this story even more. I loved opening this novel and seeing the list of Irish words and phrases I would find on its pages. It’s so much fun to get a taste of the native tongue and imagine the thick accent that would accompany those words! It just makes the story that much more authentic. If you want an escape to Ireland, a unique look at its history, and an uplifting story, then The Irish Matchmaker is the next book on your TBR pile! I highly recommend it to all historical romance fans! I was given a copy of this book by the publisher with no expectations of a positive review. All opinions are my own.

It has been awhile since I have taken the time to read a book, and when I selected this book to read, I was impressed with the cover art. As I took the time to read the back the cover, the story of Catríona Daly, the daughter of a well-known matchmaker who's job it is, is to find a match for Lord Osborne's son, Andrew. But as I started reading the book, the story started off with Donal Bunratty, a cattle farmer, who is in desperate need of a wife. He needs someone to help on the farm, and to help raise his young daughter. To make his daughter happy, he agrees to attend the matchmaking festival. The story is well written, and while I typically shy away from books that use alot of non-traditional English words, such as the Irish dialect in this book, this book didn't seem to be overwhelmed with that. I was able to read along without getting lost and slogging away in reading while at the same time trying to translate the words. It was expertly weaved through the book in conversations and usage. All in all, I enjoyed this romance novel, the weaving of the matchmaking attempts. In fact, it was reminded me a little of a movie I've watched before with Janeane Garofalo called The Matchmaker, based on a similar concept. Various matchmakers who bring together couples and their competition amongst one another. I did receive this book from Revell Books complimentary, but all thoughts and reviews are my own.

This was such a sweet and beautiful read! Jennifer takes us back to 1905 Ireland, where matchmaker Catriona is looking to make a match for herself. But is it the one she wants? Donal is a widowed father who needs someone to help him with his farm and young daughter. But is the woman who catches his eye and captures his heart right for the role? This lovely book swept me away into a charming Irish story I didn't want to end.

This was such a fun book! I really enjoyed getting to know Donal, Catriona and Sara, as well as a lively supporting cast. The author has a way with words that really makes the characters and imagery come to life! The story was a beautiful illustration of casting our cares upon God and trusting Him to provide for our needs. The matchmaking festival was intriguing to learn about and to get to explore through the pages of this novel. I recommend The Irish Matchmaker to all readers who enjoy tales of Ireland, matchmaker stories and books featuring tenacious little girls as prevalent side characters!

This enchanting book about love and second chances is a must read! It is set in the picturesque town of Lisdoonvarna, Ireland. I was immediately drawn into the book, and I awaited each page with anticipation! The characters: Fantastic! I loved Donal from the very first page! He's such a devoted father. He's a good provider, firm, yet gentle, and he'll do almost anything for his daughter, Sara. Catriona is amazing! She's looking to match herself with a man, but he turns out not to be the right one for her. She's kind and compassionate. Sara is utterly adorable! She's quite the matchmaker herself! There are two things I really love about this book. First, that faith in God is life-changing! The parts about the sermon on the mount really spoke to my heart. Second is the sense of community in the town. People rally together and help bear one another's burdens! The author's note is worth reading! I was provided a copy of the book from Revell through Interviews and Reviews. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book was totally delightful and I sighed and swooned while reading it! I laughed too! Catríona Daly is the daughter of a famous matchmaker in Lisdoonvarna, Ireland, and as she works alongside her father, she dreams of match of her own that will take her away from her sleepy village -that only comes alive during the annual matchmaking festival- to a life of comfort and -why not?- even luxury. Cattle farmer widowed Donal Bunratty iis struggling to survive and make ends meet while working in his farm and raising his young precocious daughter. But Sarah knows what his father needs: a wife and a mother for her, so she pleads to him to hire the well-known matchmaker who ends up sending his daughter Catriona to him. When Sarah meets Catríona, she knows she might be the one, even if her father seems rather confused and befuddled about the whole thing. But Caty has her designs on a rather handsome and wealthy gentleman that is seeking her help too. Will her matchmaking schemes turn out as she desires or is something better awaiting both Catríona and Donal in the end? Jennifer Deibel has a wonderful way of bringing Ireland and its traditions to life! I truly felt magically transported there! I loved the irish accent and expressions she used -thank God she had a glossary too- it made it all the more charming! The characters were sweet and endearing! Flawed and relatable, but with a huge heart! I loved how opposite they were and yet how they complemented perfectly! With Catríona’s outspoken and sassy personality, and Donal’s selflessness and more reserved character. The romance was sweet and swoony! I loved how they fell in love, kind of unexpectedly. My heart ached for Donal and his rough life, and I was touched by his love and devotion to his daughter. I was rooting so much for him the whole story and his character was so endearing to me! Catríona charmed me with her bright personality and she made me laugh out loud with her quirks more than once. I loved the way she treated Sarah and won her heart so quickly with her warm affection. Their faith journey was inspiring too, and I loved how both main characters grew along the story. Love the matchmaking theme, and the annual matchmaking festival was delightful and unique! The ending was fantastic! Sigh! I definitely recommend this story to Historical Romance lovers! So charming and captivating! I received a complimentary copy of this book from the Publisher and was under no obligation to post a review. This is my honest and unbiased opinion.
Thoroughly enjoyed it!

Oh, it was fun to be back in Ireland with Author Jennifer Deibel and learning about this Irish tradition of matchmaking! I thoroughly enjoyed this story! Donal Bunratty is the sweetest, most authentic man, only attending the matchmaking festival because it was his 9-year-old daughter Sara's birthday wish. Not his cup of tea at all. After he meets Jimmy Daly the matchmaker in town, and reluctantly tells him his story, Jimmy refers him to his daughter the matchmaker. Catríona Daly no stranger to the business of love, wants to marry well during the matchmaking festival and get out of this town. A journey of obstacles, faith, self-discovery and love that lovers of romantic historical fiction won't want to miss! Thank you to the author, publisher and Net galley for allowing me to read an early copy. All opinions are my own.

“Lord, let the right woman be out there. And bring her to me in Your time,” the prayer is prayed in Jennifer Deibel’s novel, The Irish Matchmaker. ~ What ~ This three-hundred-and-twenty-page paperback targets those interested in a historical romance involving being matched perfectly in love. With no profanity, topics of injury, illness, and death may not be appropriate for immature readers. While the beginning has a glossary of Irish terms, the ending includes the author’s note, a teaser of a new book by the writer, acknowledgments, her biography, and advertisements. In this story set in Ireland in 1905, Catriona has followed in her father’s famous footsteps being one of the best matchmakers in Lisdoonvarna. Although she has always scoffed at the idea of being a wife, she becomes more than interested when she has to match the handsome Lord Osborne during the annual festival. However, when a nine-year-old daughter insists on Catriona matching her widowed farmer father, Donal, is the matchmaker put to test. ~ Why ~ I love historical fiction involving foreign lands and cultures, especially when it comes to matchmaking, and this novel does well in defining it. I enjoyed the fun and carefree interactions of the two protagonists in spite of their lots in life and longing desires. The daughter was well described and enhanced the story. I appreciated that God was the focus and His pronouns were capitalized for reverence. ~ Why Not ~ Those who do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ may not like this story, but it is not overdone with its Catholic overtones. I found many of the characters stereotypical so there were no surprises in the story. ~ Wish ~ While the read homed in on the Biblical “Sermon on the Mount,” it would be thoughtful to have included the eternal plan of salvation. ~ Want ~ If you like a romantic Irish tale of trusting God for everything including providing the best match in marriage, this one is lovely and interesting. Thanks to Revell and Interviews & Reviews for this complimentary book. I am under no obligation to give a positive review.
