Book Synopsis
Hot on the heels of the New York Times bestsellers The Twin and The Lake, another pulse-pounding read from the undisputed queen of YA thrillers! They said goodbye to their friends and family for the weekend. They weren't counting on forever. Jagged Island: a private amusement park for the very rich--or the very influential. Liam, James, Will, Ava, Harper, and Paisley--social media influencers with millions of followers--have been invited for an exclusive weekend before the park opens. They'll make posts and videos for their channels and report every second of their VIP treatment. When the teens arrive, they're stunned: the resort is even better than they'd imagined. Their hotel rooms are unreal, the park's themed rides are incredible, and the island is hauntingly beautiful. They're given a jam-packed itinerary for the weekend. But soon they'll discover that something's missing from their schedule: getting off the island alive.About the Author

The ending that wasn’t…. After pushing to get through all the unbelievable circumstances faced by these characters, all the slash and gore, telling myself that the story HAD to get better, only to be left with this ending? If this is the best we have to offer our young people to read, we are in serious trouble.

Borrowed this book at the library and I’ve had it for over two months I think, around there. It’s hard to read, personally. There’s so many characters I forget who Malcom, Reeve, Gibson & others are as in what role they play. I still haven’t finished reading it but I had time today and got towards the middle of the book. It’s hard to pick up but I like to read books completely once I’ve read so much of it. Based off another review I read, I’ve found that her other book (I forgot the name) is like this one, there is no good ending it just leaves you hanging. I guess that’s her style of writing.

Social media influencers are perfect for wide range promotion to a newly built extravagant gothic motif theme park resort for the 1%. Thus, the owner and creator Millionaire Malcom Wyatt invites an all teen case of video game streamer Liam, beauty/fashion bloggers Will and Ava, Book blogger Harper, movie aficionado James and true crime podcaster Paisley to be the first guests. Each guest was promised a free, fun filled weekend with rides, entertainment and gourmet food, with little supervision beyond a sparse group of resort employees and the owner. The theme park built, on a remote island and only accessible by boat, seems exciting and mysterious on the arrival of the influencers. Naturally and excited by the idea of being the first ever park attendees, they each begin taking pictures and videos to create a portfolio for advertisement and promotion. What starts out as fun and games on a late night exploration excursion for Paisley and Will turns into a weekend of horrors no one expected. Something or someone sinister joined them on the island and not everyone makes it out alive.

I personally found it very hard to read. Every other page was about how much money the main character and people that surrounded her had. It was often unnecessarily descriptive as well. I just found the main character extremely unlikeable.
No ending. Needed 1-2 more chapters

I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about it. It was pretty good throughout the book. Good details. Good twists. And then the book was over. There was NO closure what so ever. Really poorly written ending. Won’t be reading her books anymore.
You won't put it down once you get it started!

I wasn’t sure at first because it starts off being about influencers and I’m not a fan of them. But it quickly turns and you kind of forget about that. The whole time I’m trying to solve the mystery of who the killer is and why. The ending I didn’t really see coming. It felt rushed but I think it really made you get into the story with its fast pace. I had to read the last 160 pages in one shot because I couldn’t put it down! I believe in total it’s 303 pages. Highly recommend!

Stopping is death. Do you want to read a book that keeps you on the edge of your seat - that makes your whole body tense while you're reading it? Then I suggest any and all of Natasha Preston's YA thrillers. The Island didn't disappoint and it quickly rose to one of my favorites of Preston's. One to rival The Cellar. The story follows six social media influencers as they are invited to tour an island resort built for the rich. They are there to snap pics, take videos and blog all about how amazing the private amusement park is. What they weren't in store for - trying to stay alive and getting off of the island. When I read the synopsis of this one, I was counting down the days until I could get my hands on a copy. While I loved everything about this book, I do wish the characters were fleshed out a little more. I couldn't pull an emotional connection to some of them, which made me not care as much if something happened to them. The overall plot was great and I couldn't read it fast enough. My held my breath a few times waiting to see what happened. Preston does such a good job writing suspense. While there were a few plot holes, overall it was a great YA thriller. The cliffhanger ending of the book was expected, Natasha is the Queen of creating an ending that leaves you wanting more!
