"Are you a human? Then you are going to love this book . . . tender, compassionate, infinitely useful. You'll walk away a little more convinced that some plans are worth it and others were programmed into you in the 2000s during low-fat yogurt commercials about women having it all."--Kate Bowler, New York Times bestselling author of Everything Happens for a Reason

"After delving into countless time-management books, The PLAN emerges as the awaited gem. For women who are making our way in the twenty-first century, she asks all the right questions and offers solutions that work, while proving that equality does not mean sameness. I've needed this book since I was nineteen years old, yet at seventy-three it's not too late!"--Suzanne Stabile, co-author of The Road Back to You, author of The Path Between Us, and host of The Enneagram Journey podcast

Compassionate Time Management, Finally!

The Plan is the first of its kind in what the author is calling compassionate time management and it couldn’t have come at a better time in our society. The amount of care that is taken to encourage kindness to ourselves and our people is a message that has not existed in the productivity space. The best part is that there’s plenty of light heartedness, humor, and spoiler alert: PLAN is an acronym! A great read for anyone who wants to improve their productivity and humanity at the same time.

The way Kendra positions compassionate time management in The Plan is what we all need. This is not your traditional time management book where we’re all told enough is never enough, this is a book to help you value where you are and give you tools to manage your time and slow down the hustle that tends to end in burnout.

I won't say this book is pure fire, because the whole point is that it's NOT. Rather than bossing you to hustle, to strive for greatness, and to go big or go home, it gives you a framework to name what matters to you, to make plans based on your energy in this season, and to notice how you feel and be willing to adjust. It's truly a game-changer in the most grace-filled, compassionate way. Listening to Kendra is my favorite, but you'll want a hard copy to reference too!

Everything Kendra Adachi writes resonates with me deeply. I appreciate her no-nonsense, kind, and tender approach to organization and planning. Her care for her family, friends, and herself is what sets her writing apart from the crowd. This book, offering time-management skills and processes for women specifically, is a gem. She looks at the common issues and stresses particular to women and compassionately offers a different path than the “try harder,” “achieve greatness,” one most often praised. I will say there was a fair amount of discussion about how the methods of time-management currently offered are for a man’s world and that women need something different. I could see this being off-putting or off-brand for longtime fans of the Lazy Genius, but it didn’t affect the ultimate value I found in the book. Reading The PLAN was like taking a deep breath. I could sense Kendra saying throughout the entire book, “you’re doing great.” She confronts so many of my personal tendencies. I can definitely relate to the catastrophic, everything is awful, black trash bag energy. I can become quite black-and-white, all-or-nothing when under stress, and the exercises and pep-talks in this book combat that line of thinking and encourage starting small instead of the common “go big or go home.” Well, I think I’d rather go home, actually. And that’s what The PLAN is, a call to be at home with oneself, to tend to oneself, and to let that core value be the guiding principle in every arena of life. This one had a lot of information and it was hard for me to conceptualize or practice all of it with a digital copy. I’m looking forward to seeing the information on a printed page in the future. This book is practical, informative, and funny. I feel like Kendra is my biggest fan cheering me on, and without knowing her personally, I’ve become one of hers.

"The Plan" strikes the perfect balance between being an understanding friend and a motivating coach. It offers both a reassuring hug and practical, actionable tips for managing time. More than just a scheduling guide, it’s filled with eye-opening insights ("truth bombs") that explain why time management can feel so challenging for women. It reassures readers that they’re not crazy, flawed, or weak for struggling with this, and then offers a better approach—not just for planning days, but for truly living well. I'm incredibly thankful for this book, and I know it will be a resource I return to again and again.

Kendra, this book is a GIFT! So much practical application spoken with kindness and hope. I ripped through this digitally and can’t wait to hold the physical book in my hands and read it over and over again. Can’t recommend highly enough. TLG has brought so much goodness into my life and helped me work toward a new way to view productivity and how I spend my time.

I've listened to The Lazy Genius podcast for years and truly believe that the podcast and Kendra's first book, The Lazy Genius Way, changed the way I live my life. The Plan takes many of the Kendra's principles and explains how to use them to plan our time while focusing on being kind to ourselves and narrowing in on what really matters. While reading I could hear Kendra's voice, bringing all of her beloved "big sister energy" to the topic of time management, reminding us that the point of living is to live, not to just simply check tasks off a list. I'm glad I read this book during a particularly challenging "season" in my life, where I frequently found comfort by repeating my favorite piece of Kendra's wisdom to myself: "learning to pivot is more important than learning to plan." I see myself frequently returning to the pep talks section in the back of the book where Kendra provides short pieces if advice that can be applied when you're overwhelmed in a variety of different ways.

Do you often feel like life would go smoother if you just had the right system in place? Well, look no further, because this is The Plan. Written for women in the Lazy Genius style of being a genius about what matters & lazy about the things that don’t, Kendra gives women practical tips for decision making all with her signature humor & grace. This book is a resource you can turn to time & time again—especially the pep talks in the back of the book!
