Reading Jane Austen's prayers written for family devotions has verified a deeper faith and character not always recognized in 'popular academic' circles. The succinct analysis by Glaspey examines the seriousness of Austen's respect and expectations re clergical and other customs. The soaring poetic prose doesn't disappoint and yet bids me welcome to join her in meditation.
