The Rise and Fall of Miss Fannie’s Biscuits by Wanda E Brunstetter and Martha Bolton is the tale of Fannie and her Amish life as a single woman owning a quilt shop. Foster Bates has moved to town, retiring from police work and now works as a private investigator. Fannie is participating in the baking contest that offers a $25,000 award to the winner. Contestants keep disappearing and only Fannie and Foster are investigating. Who is responsible for the disappearing contestants? Who will win the contest and the money? This book was interesting. I did find it to be all over the place as far as the story line. It is a light hearted story and will be performed as a play. Honestly the story just didn’t resonate with me and I had difficulty following along. The plot was hard to follow and not as well developed as I would have liked. Others may find this book fascinating. I did finish it just to see how it ended!

I always like a good mystery story and enjoyed that this one centered around a baking contest. The author's fun and quirky characters make this a pleasant and humorous read. Themes of friendship and faith, as well as a surprise ending, makes this a lighthearted cozy mystery. Bonus that the book includes Miss Fannie's biscuit recipe. Overall, a fun and joyful read. I was gifted a copy of this book and chose to share a review. All opinions are my own.

The Rise and Fall of Miss Fannie's Biscuits is an amusing cozy mystery surrounding the disappearances of several contestants of the Tenth Annual Tuscarawas County and Surrounding Counties Baking Contest. What a fun cozy mystery that had me grinning and left me feeling happy. I was intrigued with an Amish woman teaming with an English private investigator to solve a mystery. It even has hints of a simmering romance beneath the surface. I loved their interactions and how they each approached solving the mystery while trying to maintain their everyday jobs. There are numerous characters but I had no problem keeping them all straight. Some have quirky characteristics that makes them fun to get to know. It is an easy quick read but very enjoyable and leaves you wanting to read more about the characters and community. I especially enjoyed the Faith elements. I recommend this for a light fun read. I received a complimentary copy from Barbour Publishing. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.
