The Wolf of Snow Hollow (Blu-ray + Digital)

This one has a little bit of everything…humor, scares, mystery, drama…I don’t want to spoil anything so just check it out.

Seriously, this movie is hilarious! Some of the lines are gold and the main actor Jim Cummings, who's also the Director delivers every line perfectly. I believe the trailers used some of his bad takes because I didn't see any of that during the entire film. Don't get me wrong the movie can be pretty cheesy sometimes, but I wouldn't call it bad acting. It's on purpose and gives off an atmosphere similar to something from David Lynch, the creator of Twin Peaks. The horror aspect is not as strong, but there's plenty of drama and comedy to make up for it. It's definitely worth a watch!

Buckle up and go for the ride with this one. Great comedy moments, some strong horror sequences, and a few moments that might get you a little teary. Doesn't rely on jump scares. Gives the audience a lot to love.

Jim Cumming’s newest film, The Wolf of Snow Hollow is a very well paced, entertaining drama comedy with a strong lead performance from Cummings. The main story of the film follows a small town cop as he pursues multiple murders, trying to find the identity of the killer. As the story goes on one he slowly loses his grasp on his life, with the ominous threat of a cereal putting constant pressure on him. The screenplay may seem simple on the surface but, with some well written side characters, the story can always change things up, focusing on the supporting cast. The music, which is a big improvement on the stagnant nature that the Thunder Road score had, helped greatly in setting up a frantic mood which was very appropriate given the type of story that Cummings was tackling. While the music was a big improvement on Thunder Road, it still suffered from it being overused. Many scenes that could’ve had some interesting dialogue were instead covered up by the intrusive music. Some minor performances were also pretty lackluster just in the fact that the people in these roles weren’t given much room to express themselves emotionally. Still though, The Wolf of Snow Hollow delivers itself as an easy to watch dark comedy. It looks at paranoia and the pressure of life in a very accessible way. This is definitely an improvement on his previous film and, given the trajectory of Cummings career, I can’t wait to see what he does next.
