Description

About the Book

The bestselling paper airplane book, completely updated and improved, features four new designs for a total of 20 designs and 112 models.

Book Synopsis

It's the classic, world's bestselling paper airplane book, grounded in the aerodynamics of paper and abounding with fun. The World Record Paper Airplane Book raises paper airplane making to a unique, unexpected art. This new edition boasts four brand-new models: Stiletto, Spitfire, Galactica, and Sting Ray. Added to its hangar of proven fliers--including Valkyrie, Hammerhead, Vortex, Condor, Pterodactyl, and, of course, the famous World Record Paper Airplane--that makes twenty airworthy designs. Each is swathed in all-new, attention-grabbing graphics and is ready to tear out, fold, and fly. There are at least five models for each design and all-important instructions for how to adjust and throw each plane for best flight.

But the planes are just the beginning. The book features tons of cool information on aerodynamics, competitions, and designing your own high-performing models. Readers will learn why paper airplanes fly (and why they crash), the history of Ken Blackburn's world record, and how to organize and win contests. Also included is a flight log and pull-out runway for practicing accuracy.

From the Back Cover

Now completely revised and expanded, with new models, new full-color graphics, and new know-how, this is the irresistible bestseller that marries the fun of making paper airplanes with the hard science of aeronautical engineering. The result? The perfect collection for novice and frequent flier alike. It features:
-A hangar's worth of different designs, from the basic dart to a biplane, autogyro, and the famous World Record Paper Airplane
-112 ready-to-fold airplanes with attention-grabbing full-color graphics
-An improved and expanded primer on the principles of flight, including weight vs. lift, drag vs. thrust, and adjustments for greater stability
- Everything you need to know about the all-important throw--how to match throwing technique with the right model
-Aerobatics: how to perform circles, loops, dives, and other stunts
- How to organize (and win!) paper airplane contests
-Plus a flight log and pull-out runway

I bought this as a gift for my 6 year old nephew and I've heard nothing but rave reviews from him. I've been told that his much-older brother and father love it too! The book has a good variety of colorful planes with various flying methods.
