I looked everywhere for this book from my childhood. I'm so happy they have it here. I showed my niece and nephew because they love monster books and they had a great time reading it

I enjoyed this as a child but the book didn’t age well at all. There is a little pop gun image in many if not almost all the of the pages and the little boy shoots the monster that clearly didn’t deserve it. I think the line was something like “so I shot him anyway.” There isn’t a great lesson to be learned I guess because the kid in the story kind-of bullies the monster. The illustrations overall are cool, but it’s not something I will be reading to my kiddo… especially with what’s going on in America with increased gun violence. I’d rather teach my kid about making safer and more kind choices.

This was my favorite book as a child. I memorized all the words and would recite them to my dad as he turned the pages for me. I can't wait to read it to my baby boy who will be here in just a few weeks.
