The pieces are flimsy and difficult to assemble or don’t fit right. Our 6 year old loves it but as adults we are less than impressed.

Great for demonstrating concepts!

I received product reimbursement in exchange for my honest review. My husband and son worked on a couple of these projects together and he didn’t have nice things to say. That just goes to show that these projects are a little involved and require more adult interaction than my husband cares to do. With my four year old, he loved painting the cars and assembling all the pieces. I would recommend maybe completing these projects with an older child and the science concepts were a bit over the head of my child. I loved the idea, of using simple builds to explain physics concepts. With an involved and motivated parent, I think there’s a lot that can be gleaned from this kit. It does take some partnership and working together though, especially with the younger kids, to follow all the instructions.

I received product reimbursement in exchange for my honest review. The physics discovery kit is an absolute hit with my 7-year-old! We had so much fun building a balloon-powered car and watching it zoom across the room. The kit includes everything you need to complete the projects, and the instructions are easy to follow. This is a fantastic and educational kit that kept us entertained for hours.

I received product reimbursement in exchange for my honest review. I am so glad to get to know this one. It helps to introduce to the kids some basic concepts of Physics. Pieces are very well made and safe for the kids to play around. They learn a lot through this.

Almost nothing works the way it’s supposed to. Very disappointed kids, we’ve had luck with other Mondo Llama products but this is literally garbage as all but one project has gone immediately into the bin.

Very frustrating for my son. Nothing fits properly. It's pretty bad. The whole kit should be $5. Waste of money

Rubbish!

Utter rubbish - nothing really fit together, the balloon car doesn’t move at all, the wooden car wheels don’t fit on the dowels, the popsicle sticks are warped and don’t lie flat and the plane stickers make warp the foam so that it’s a curvy mess! At the very least we have laughed a lot making each failure!

We have done other Mondo Llama kits and enjoyed them but this one was really bad. The moving vehicles didn't work, and definitely required modifications and hot glue. Disappointing kit.

Poor quality materials

Poor quality/choice of materials. Example: Paper straw for boat broke as soon as it got wet; the rubber band for the propeller car was too tight and pulled the plastic hook, which was only glued on, off without even winding; cardboard car was too flimsy and had to be reinforced with tape.

Nothing worked. Bad quality. The balloon car’s cardboard broke while making it. Lots of tears. I had to tape it to try to make it work.

For the price, 6 projects in one box with all materials is a great value! I bought this to have something to do with my 3 year old. We had a great time doing them together and talking about how things move!

Fun Kit

4 out of 5 stars
kwiggles - 2 years ago
I spent time with an 8- and 10-year-old and this kit was an easy way to occupy our time! I split the mini kits amongst the two kids and they completed all crafts within about an hour. Some of the projects were very quick (the airplane and straw rocket), while others took some more time (balloon car and propeller car). We did end up using a hot glue gun to assemble the propeller car together so we could avoid waiting for the glue included to completely dry. The propeller car was easily assembled by the kids but I helped troubleshoot at the end. Overall, it was a really fun kit! I could see the kids troubleshooting with the science involved such as testing friction and directional wind power.

I love buying Mondo Llama crafts to use with my niece and nephew! Going into this activity, I knew it was above their skill level but thought it would be fun. I did the harder crafting and read instructions and had the kiddos help decorate and paint. They did like helping watch the items "go" once we were done. We did the mini activities over days due to our shorter attention span. :) Since this theme is more advanced than a typical craft, I would recommend to older aged kids if parents want it to be an independent activity.

Balloon & Propeller Car have issues, but troubleshooting started engineering convos with my child.

3 out of 5 stars
Mombot - 2 years ago
Was excited to explore this kit with my six-year-old who is very interested in science and simple machine mechanics. We worked on the balloon car and the propeller car together -- these were the two pieces we were most excited about. Unfortunately, these were the two activities that gave us trouble. The base of the car was difficult to assemble because the folded sections were so small - challenging for both adult and little fingers. We could not get a good seal on the balloon to hold air and have it move the car. Eventually, we were able to seal it, but the car just slowly scooted across the table because the wheels were too tight on the axel to turn. We had a similar problem with the propeller car. The wheels didn't turn to roll it - it scooted a bit but then stayed stationary while the propeller turned. Despite these setbacks, we did have good conversations about how the two vehicles were supposed to work and what was preventing them from working as intended. I recognize these issues could be very frustrating for many. In this case - we got more out of it troubleshooting than we may have if things went smoothly.

Propellar Car not craftable in the kit

Propellar car was so terrible to build because the dowel didn't fit the holes on the wheels. Had to use excessive force to jam the wheels on the dowels to make it fit. Also, it just spins.
