A: Yes, it does shed fibers, especially when new and if you go over it with a vacuum. We have a neato robotic vacuum that pulls little piles of fiber from the rug, but it is not noticeable on the rug itself. It is however frustrating to see the little piles lined up around the edges of the rug. Overall, this is a fantastic rug and I absolutely love it! Just beware that it will shed at first and you should use a hardwood floor setting when vacuuming to avoid the rug being brushed.

A: I was hoping that like the smaller size .. it would pull more of the border s tan hue. However the 9x12 had a lighter brighter look as the center has a more open design showinh a lot of the cream.

A: I think that the fibers vary in color because it's a natural fiber. I also think because they are handwoven each rug may not be exactly the same. I think that adds character to the rug because it is not made by a machine. Note the video about child labor .

A: The rug is nice enough that I've had guests comment and ask where they could find one. It's not like a hand made Turkish rug, of course, but it's soft to walk on and has held up well to moderate traffic for over a year now - still looking brand new. No pilling or pulls or fraying like that.

A: Not non-skid. We have the 5x8 area rug and the hallway runner. The backing is soft-non scratch on both. We have a skid protector under the runner. No need for it in the area rug. It's big and heavy so doesn't move. Plus we have a table sitting on it.
