Q: Does this require batteries and if yes what type

A: When the device arrives, you have to pull out a tab (like other devices with batteries in them) and it begins working. I believe it’s one of those things that you just have to replace the whole item when in the installed battery dies. The company claims the device will last “at least 6 months.” They do not give instructions for replacing the battery.
