[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I tried using free and clear pods for my family because the store i go to was out of my usual detergent. My son broke out head to toe in massive hives. Ears and all. I ended up having to give him allergy medicine and bring him to urgent care because the hives just kept getting worse and his feet were completely swollen. For something that is supposed to be hypoallergenic I was extremely disappointed and cannot believe the reaction it had on my babys skin. If you or a family member is sensitive, do not use this detergent or you might end up at urgent care too.

I have always used liquid detergent and with the cost of it now a days I have always used and different brand. I was shopping recently and thought I would try them since they were on sale. I have a washer without the agitator. I used the recommended amount per wash and seriously my clothes still felt dirty. I will stick to the cheaper brands and liquid detergent its just not worth the money. I want to feel clean.

I’ve always loved tide. I am so highly disappointed. The pods leave a a gross texture and stained multiple pieces of clothing. Blue stains from other tide pods all throughout loads of wash. This is more noticeable on my light clothing. Also when I’ve taken my clothes out of the dryer I’ve found pod plastic like residue dried on my clothes. Tide is not wallet friendly in this economy. So when paying the high cost for and than having to replace clothing is just Absolutely Ridiculous and so disappointing.

I had such expectations for this product because I only wash with cold water with minimal detergent. I followed the directions. Used one pod, the wrapper got stuck on my black leggings leaving a white sticky "stain" that was very difficult to remove. Very disappointed.

I have been a loyal Tide customer for over 40 years. I have been using the Tode pods, and they are ruining our clothing. We have spent so much money on our clothes and had to get dispose by throwing our clothing away. We wash our clothing in cold water and the plastic on the pods do not dissolve and stick to our clothing in which stick together with the pod covering. The pods are very convenient, but they will ruin your clothing leaving your clothing with a stick residue. Stick to the liquid Tide or powder. This is the worse idea Tide has ever come up with/

Although I have no gripes with the product itself, the jug that the pods come in is about 1/4" too tall to fit in the pedestal/drawer under my washer. I don't like having to leave them out because I have to clean around them and that's just one more step in my house cleaning routine. Could you maybe shave a little off the height of the container?

These things are a gemic, let's start off with the pods themselves whats all the warning labels on the back "don't get them on you"? If you're not supposed to get it on you then why put it in you clothes fibers, smart. Second these thing's are not gentle to skin there is something with tide pods all of them no matter the kind they make your clothes insanely itching and irritating. Third I've used many laundry soaps, and none, absolutely none have ruined my clothes like tide pods have. My clothes fit way tighter like they have shrunk way pass shrunken, and the fibers are getting brittle like there is a thin plastic coating over the fibers. Forth the pod liners don't fully dissolve a few times taking the laundry out of the washer the liners will be haning from the clothes, well what's left of it anyway.

This products broke me out in horrible hives with pain and swelling for over 6 weeks now. It took a little while to figure out it was the detergent because it’s labeled hypoallergenic but now it’s very clear. I’ve learned there is no such thing as hypoallergenic. It may be free from the most common allergens but proceed with caution. I’ve been to multiple doctors and am on 9-10 pills per day including steroids to recover from this and I’m still experiencing hives. This disrupted my life, cost me hundreds in doctor visits/medication, and I’m having to strip all my laundrey because even the slightest remnant of this detergent reactivated extremely painful itchy hives.

Pod container too hard to open

The store where I normally shop for detergent didn't have a small jug of the liquid free and gentle, so I bought what I thought was a small container of the pods, only to find it takes a bigger and stronger hand to open, to hold both tabs down and turn at the same. At least I can return it to the store. I'll go back to the liquid and all the plastic, so I can at least open it.

Tide is designed to provide exceptional cleaning and we're sorry to hear this. Some tips to get the best results with your Tide PODS are: to use the recommended amount of detergent for average water hardness, a little more in very hard water, a little less in very soft water. Also, sort clothes by color and fabrics so that you can use the hottest water that is safe for the fabrics, and use the correct was cycle for the types of fabrics you are washing together. If you notice stains before washing, try pre-treating them. This should help give you the results you're looking for.
Pod Doesn't Dissolve All The Way

I switched to these pods from liquid and a few times now the pod hasn't dissolved all the way. It gets stuck on the clothes and leaves a yellow mark when I take the goo off. I see that Tide doesn't recommend these for anything less than a "small" load, The three times they didn't dissolve was for medium sized loads. Also, what's the point of these if I can't just wash a couple of items of clothing anyways. I'm not happy with this product. I'm going back to liquid.

Gooey, stained laundry

I have used the regular Tide product for a long time, but this porduct one left stains, and sticky residue on the clothes. There was only a few items in the washer, 3 to be exact, all stained and gooey. The pod was put in the washer before the clothes were added. We have had to clean each item by hand to get out the goo and stains. I would NOT recommend this item to anyone!! I have pictures, if you need proof!

Small arthritic hands. Have to find a neighbor to help me. I can't open the container. My children and grandchildren are all over 20 I don't need child safe containers > I do need a detergent free of dyes and scents. Because of this issue I won't be buying tide again. My store is rural and has a very small selection of detergents. I will try Arm and Hammer again

I’ve always struggled with sensitive skin & have spent a LOT of time finding detergent that doesn’t cause a flare up to my skin! These free & gentle tide pods haven’t cause a single flare up! The easiness of throwing in a pod instead of measuring out the liquid when i’m in a rush is such a bonus!!! Will continue buying these.
Pod melts and leaves plastic on laundry

I have used Tide liquid for years, but decided to try the pods. I've done 2 loads and both came out of the dryer with melted pod residue on the laundry. The first load was assorted dark clothes washed in cold and the second load was a set of king size sheets washed in the lowest warm setting. I put the pod in the drum before the laundry as the instructions said. The internet suggests this can be avoided by using hot water or dissolving the pod in water before adding the clothes. The internet also suggests that I may be able to get the plastic residue out by soaking the items in hot water and washing again. The pods are supposed to be more convenient. This is just more work for me and more water and energy use for a second was to remove the residue. I am very disappointed.

We perform many tests to ensure that they will dissolve in your washer as expected. Thanks for sharing that you put them in before the laundry, as that’s helpful to know. You could also try choosing a little longer wash cycle, or putting a slightly smaller load of laundry in next time, to help ensure that the pad gets exposed to as much water as possible during the wash cycle. We definitely have some tips to help with the residue, so please don’t pull the fabric apart, but soak the item as you mentioned, overnight in the highest temperature allowed by the fabric. The next day you can rewash it without any detergent, and that should dissolve anything left behind. i am 80 years old and I have used tide for most of my marriage which is 64years. l have tried many other detergents. Tide is the best. Because of allergies I always had to rinse twice. With tide free I use a normal rinse...thank you makers of tide!!!!!
