Q: Can this tide be used in an older washer?
A: Yes. I use it in both my newer front load, and older top load machines.

submitted byspotthecat - 9 years agoA: Yes! You can use a High Efficiency detergent in any washer, the only thing to note is that you'll see far less suds when using an HE detergent.

Q: The Target website says it is bleach-free but in the formula on the box it says it has Bleach activator. What is bleach activator?

submitted byTide - 4 years agoBrand expertA: This product bleached a brand new item of my clothing. I have photos to prove it, and there are no other bleach containing products in my home. I laid laid the item of clothing out to dry after washing and upon further inspection found detergent powder residue still on the garment. When I rinsed it off, the bleach stains remained- all the way through both sides of the thick fabric. Do not use this product if you don't want your clothing bleached!

Q: By using only powder detergent does this elimnate the smells that tends to happen with front loading washers over time?
A: Joe, over time front loading washers start to smell due to detergent and soil build up. To eliminate these odors we recommend a monthly machine clean out as directed by your machine's owner's manual. Q: Is this also the regular powdered Tide for standard, top-loading washing machines (not HE)?
A: Great question, Montana! You can certainly use this in your machine, and will still get the perfect results you'd expect. Q: Is this detergent septic safe?
A: Yes. All Tide products have been thoroughly evaluated to use in homes with septic tanks. As long as you follow the recommended amounts as directed, they do not damage the septic system (including aerated systems) or plumbing systems with a properly functioning septic tank. Q: I don't see it say "HE" (High Efficiency-type) anywhere on the container... Is the picture wrong, or is the title?
A: There is a little "HE" tattoo on the photo of the box of Tide Turbo Original High Efficiency Powder. It's just below the word "Original" in the blue banner. This detergent is HE compatible.
