Q: Can this tide be used in an older washer?

submitted by Di - 9 years ago
  • A: Yes. I use it in both my newer front load, and older top load machines.

submitted bySusygirl - 9 years ago
  • A: I have an old Kenmore washer for soaking and a newer high-efficiency LG washer for everything else. I use the Tide HE detergent in both, with no problems.

submitted byspotthecat - 9 years ago
  • A: Yes! You can use a High Efficiency detergent in any washer, the only thing to note is that you'll see far less suds when using an HE detergent.

Q: The Target website says it is bleach-free but in the formula on the box it says it has Bleach activator. What is bleach activator?

submitted by Isaac G - 4 years ago
  • A: Great question, Isaac! This version doesn't contain bleach, but has a bleach alternative, which helps to remove stains, without altering the color of your clothing. We hope this helps, but if you want to chat more about this, you can call us at: (800) 879-8433 anytime! - The Tide Team

  • A: This product bleached a brand new item of my clothing. I have photos to prove it, and there are no other bleach containing products in my home. I laid laid the item of clothing out to dry after washing and upon further inspection found detergent powder residue still on the garment. When I rinsed it off, the bleach stains remained- all the way through both sides of the thick fabric. Do not use this product if you don't want your clothing bleached!

Q: By using only powder detergent does this elimnate the smells that tends to happen with front loading washers over time?

submitted by Joe - 2 years ago
  • A: Joe, over time front loading washers start to smell due to detergent and soil build up. To eliminate these odors we recommend a monthly machine clean out as directed by your machine's owner's manual. If you have any other questions, or if we can help you further, give us a call at (800) 879-8433.

Q: Is this also the regular powdered Tide for standard, top-loading washing machines (not HE)?

submitted by Montana Moxie - 4 years ago
  • A: Great question, Montana! You can certainly use this in your machine, and will still get the perfect results you'd expect. The only thing you may notice that is different will be fewer suds during the cycle. If you have any other questions, just give us a ring at: (800) 879-8433 when you get a chance! - The Tide Team

Q: I don't see it say "HE" (High Efficiency-type) anywhere on the container... Is the picture wrong, or is the title?

submitted by Oli - 4 years ago
  • A: There is a little "HE" tattoo on the photo of the box of Tide Turbo Original High Efficiency Powder. It's just below the word "Original" in the blue banner. This detergent is HE compatible. If you have any other questions, or if we can help you further, please feel free to call us at (800) 879-8433. We're here to help you.
