HILARIOUS CHRISTIAN FICTION!

Gabriella Goodhue has had a hard life. As a child she was forced to work as a thief many other children for an unscrupulous man, until being rescued into an orphanage. Now as an adult she has turned all that around. She is has become an upright citizen and has a respectable job as a seamstress. She resides at the Bleeker Street Boardinghouse with a most unusual group of women. Each with their own past and funny quirks, but together have formed a close knit family. One of the tenants there is falsely accused of stealing an expensive heirloom from an aristocratic family. Gabriella is determined to clear their name. She disguises herself and goes undercover at a ball to try and nab the real thief. In the process, she is thrown together with Nicholas Quinn. He was a part of the child thief ring and they had been very close, but had not seen each other in many years. Nicholas was taken in by a wealthy man and is now part of high society. He purposes to help her solve her case but she wants nothing to do with him. She has past hurts of feeling he abandoned her. As with all of Ms. Turano’s books the events that follow are hilarious and touching! I couldn’t quit laughing at the escapades of Gabriella, Nicholas and the motley group from the boardinghouse. Daphne, her friend and fellow tenant, was my favorite character! Her eccentricities paired with her helping Gabriella were hysterical I loved the suspense and close calls they found themselves in. What I liked most was Nicholas’s strong faith in the Lord and his gentle guiding to help Gabriella see that God loved her and she could trust Him. This is such a fun book and the ending will surprise you. Thank you Ms. Turano for brightening my reading days with another fantastic book!
So much fun!

This series opener by Jen Turano is one that her fans will not want to miss! It is full of her signature hilarity, quirky characters, mystery, lessons to learn, romance, and more! Working together was a theme throughout the book. I loved that the boarding house women joined together to clear the name of one of their own. Gabrielle and Nicholas had been very effective partners in crime as children. After they reconnect, they work together to fulfill the missions of the Bleecker Street Inquiry Agency. Once the reader gets to know Gabriella and Nicholas, they become very endearing. What Nicholas has accomplished is quite impressive, and his willingness to adjust his aspirations and goals to more upright standards was impressive. Fans of Turano's work will certainly enjoy this new offering! Highly recommended!

To Steal a Heart, by Jen Turano, is the first book in the new Bleecker Street Inquiry Agency series. This novel is simply amazing! Humorous, surprising, charming, and utterly endearing, this book just might be one of author Jen Turano’s best yet! Brimming with mystery, intrigue, suspense, romance, and plenty of the quirky shenanigans that embody Ms. Turano’s signature style, this novel is wholly enjoyable and remarkably memorable. With her obvious talent for incorporating descriptive writing, engaging dialogue, and unforgettable characters, Ms. Turano has once again crafted a story that is as original as it it witty. Quick pacing and imaginative plot twists ensure that this story is genuinely compelling and satisfying. From the first page to the final sentence, I found this book to be truly captivating and thoroughly entertaining. To Steal a Heart is certainly a special book. Well-written, meaningful, amusing, and thoughtful, it is definitely worthy of much attention and real praise. It is a novel I would happily reread in the future and share with my friends. I recommend it eagerly to all readers. *I was given a copy of this book from the publisher. A review was not required. The review I have written is voluntary and contains opinions that are entirely my own.

The criminals better watch out, there's a new detective agency in town and these women aren't playing around! Jen Turano has started a new series called the Bleecker Street Inquiry Agency, and this is her best yet. Set in New York City in the late 1880's, Turano pulls together high society and the every day working class to create mystery, tension, and romance in a way that has the reader on the edge of her seat. I love Jen's books for a lot of reasons -- her research into the time period is amazing, her characters are multi-faceted and realistic, the dialogue she creates leaves you breathless, and she brings a unique sense of comedy to every scene. Each time I read her books I have a hard time putting them down. She has a brilliant way of drawing the reader in and ending each chapter in such a way that you have to read 'just one more'. I love cheering the characters on as they, with the best of intentions, get themselves into hysterical situations that only make them more endearing. There are so many intriguing women living in the boarding house on Bleecker Street that I can't wait for the remaining books in the series. I really want to learn more about each one!

Gabriella (Gabe) and Nicholas grew up with a gang of thieves and pick pockets. Although they had been best friends, fate separated them. Gabe ended up in an orphanage and, as an adult, became a lonely seamstress with little means. Nicholas, because he was adopted by a rich man, became a sought-after member of New York society’s exclusive Four Hundred group. Through a variety of circumstances, they each attempt to break into a safe belonging to one of the pillars of society—and are shocked to run into each other in the process. Despite Gabe’s unhappiness that Nicholas had never tracked her down after they were separated, she realizes the agency she has started would benefit from his help. This tale follows the two through the rousing exploits they face while working cases. Criticism from society, adventure, danger and humor abound, along with surprising revelations about their families. The residents of the boarding house where Gabe lives make up the ragtag group of operatives working for her agency. They provide additional comic relief along with some mystery. Faith is part of this 5-star book. I recommend it to those who enjoy romance or period stories with a sprinkle of fun, along with a touch of cloak and dagger. Bethany House Publishers, through NetGalley, has provided Tickmenot with a complimentary copy of, To Steal a Heart, for the purpose of review.

Wow!! This is definitely one of Jen Turano’s best! I loved it so much! It made me laugh out loud so many times that my belly ached! It was completely hilarious, yet at the same time, there’s a sweetness and charm of the characters that made them endearing to me from page one! It was a sweet and touching romance too! I totally loved this New Series! The Bleeker Street Inquiry Agency and its charming and spunky members were so delightful! I can’t wait for the next books to get to know their stories, especially Daphne, omg, she was hilarious! And I loved Nicholas, although I wanted to shake him a bit at first for being so proper and snobby! But I loved his growth in this story, and I have to say he has a heart of gold! Gabriella was a spunky and strongminded woman, who knew what she wanted in life, and was earning her honest living with hard work. She has some lessons for Nicholas, but she’ll have things to learn in the book as well. I love that Jen Turano’s books are always inspirational and faith inspired. It’s a plus that most Romantic Comedies don’t always have. I’m always smiling or laughing when I read her books! All in all, this was a delightful book that warmed my heart, and I think this is going to be a blast of a series, just by getting to know the secondary characters that hopefully will have their stories and chance at a Happily Ever After ad well! I definitely recommend this book! Five and more stars! Can’t gush enough about it.

Talk about unique characters! I so easily loved the ladies from the Bleecker Street Inquiry Agency. I am used to being spoiled when reading a book by Jen Turano, but this one knocked it out of the park. I immensely enjoyed every moment I spent reading this book and am dying to spend more time with the characters in the next installment. I was transported to another place and time and couldn’t get enough. Turano had me laughing out loud, and I couldn’t seem to stop reading. I loved the chemistry between the characters and that they had a past. This book is a must read for anyone who enjoys Historical Romance. I can hardly wait to see what Turano does next. I was blessed to receive a copy of this book and was in no way forced to post a review. All opinions expressed are my own.

I love Jen Turno’s books because the characters are witty and funny and her stories are interesting and always fun to read. The women at the boarding house including Gabriella are willing to help each other no matter what- talk about loyal friends! They form an investigative service to prove their friend Jennettes innocence. I also liked the character Daphne- she was hysterical trying to help Gabriella. This story was set in New York during 1886 where there was definitely divisions between the high and low society. I loved reading about the balls and parties. I also liked reading about Gabriella and Nicholas being reunited and to read about their friendship and relationship progressing during the case. This clean, historical romance story kept my interest with all the elements of who dunnit, mishaps and funny moments. It was a longer book but still enjoyable to read. I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.

The first chapter of To Steal a Heart had me laughing out loud and the fun continued as young women in a New York City boarding house set out to prove the innocence of a friend accused of theft. After police consider the case solved, Gabriella, Daphne, and Eunice become wanna-be detectives and they're soon aided by a man who was Gabriella's childhood friend. Suddenly, another intriguing element is added to the picture, as Gabriella and Nicholas recall the special bond they shared as children and experience a rekindling of their affection for each other. The story that follows has a mixture of unusual characters, dangerous activities, heartwarming discoveries, and the promise of sweet romance. When I see that Jen Turano has written a new book, I immediately associate it with fun and laughter and this book certainly met my expectations. This is the first book in The Bleecker Street Inquiry Agency and I look forward to seeing what's ahead for these quirky women detectives. I highly recommend To Steal a Heart to all who enjoy historical romantic fiction. I received a complimentary copy of this book via Celebrate Lit. A favorable review was never required and no monetary compensation was given. These are my own thoughts.

Having read some of Jen Turano's books I knew I was in for a treat with To Steal a Heart. I was not disappointed. This is the first book in the Bleeker Street Inquiry Agency series and the author brings to light interesting tidbits about The Gilded Age era and the New York Four Hundred society as she tells the story of Gabriella, a young woman on a mission to clear a falsely accused friend's name. As she completes her mission, she might just find she has found a family, perhaps not of blood-lines, but of an odd assortment of people who she comes to love. The story held my interest from the beginning to the end with interesting and sometimes humorous scenarios. The author does a great job with her characters, making them likable, flawed, and realistic. I really enjoyed the book and look forward to reading more from this author. Readers who like quirky historical romance will not want to miss To Steal a Heart. I received a complimentary copy of this book via CelebrateLit. A favorable review was not required, and opinions are my own. This review is part of a CelebrateLit blog tour.

Ladies of society don’t expect love, nor do they expect their hearts to go pitter-patter over their future husbands. - from To Steal a Heart Oh my gosh!! I would give this story more than 5 stars if I could - the scrapes, twists, turns and laughter didn’t quit until the most surprising end. The author has once again started a new series with a bang, that will most certainly follow through into all subsequent novels. They tell me what I want to hear, while you tell me what I need to hear. - Nicholas to Gabriella Nicholas and Gabriella, friends since childhood, have a relationship that has spanned the years, even though their lives diverged into two very different paths. A chance encounter brings even more hilarity to this story. Between dogs that are particular to certain people or speech patterns, someone forever taking notes when not swooning and ladies totally unfamiliar with their required tasks, the Bleeker Street Inquiry Agency starts off with the reader wondering how they will ever survive their first case. Be ready to chuckle frequently and laugh out loud at other times. This novel is Jen Turano at her best! I received an ARC through Baker Publishing Group, Bethany House Publishers, NetGalley and CelebrateLit. My impressions, comments and rating were in no way solicited.

What a hoot this was as it had me laughing. I could imagine the scenarios The Bleecker Street Inquiry Agency found themselves in. I loved the joy it brought me amidst the serious subject of orphans and society rules. The characters had so many different personalities and secrets that were revealed were surprising. It showed that even when we think God has forgotten us that He has a plan and watching the pieces fall into place was like playing a game of Clue. This author is guaranteed to bring laughter and love to life amid chaos with perfection. Now the hard part is waiting for the next book in the series to see what new predicaments these ladies find themselves entangled in. I recommend you get this on your TBR pile as soon as possible. I received a complimentary copy from the publisher. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.

To Steal a Heart by Jen Turano is the first book in her Bleecker Street Inquiry Agency series. Gabriella Goodhue grew up as a street thief. Now a friend is accused of a theft and Gabriella must use all her old talents to clear her name. Running into Nicholas Quinn, an old friend, was not part of her plan. This was a great beginning to a new series. I can’t wait for the next book. All the ladies at the boardinghouse were so unique. I laughed out loud so many times at the witty conversations and the antics of all the different characters. I was afraid the whole book was going to be about one case that the agency had to solve, but I was pleasantly surprised that it wrapped up rather quickly and moved onto others. Ms. Turano did a great job with balancing the romance and mystery in this book. It would make a fabulous movie! I think this is her best book yet!! I received this book from the author for my honest review.

If you haven’t read a Jen Turano mystery romance, you’ve been missing out! “To Steal a Heart”, the first in the Bleecker Street Inquiry Agency series, is a great addition to her body of work! Quintessential Jen, it is full of witty dialogue, interesting mystery, wonderful characters and big heart! Gabriella gave up a life of crime years ago but finds herself drawing on old skills to help a friend falsely accused of theft! Mid-investigation, she comes face-to-face with her former partner, Nicholas, only to find out he, too, has gotten out and is now working for the good of others. Past hurts threaten to get between the two working together until they realise just how big this case is and how much they need each other to solve it. Whilst I love both our leads, it was the broader cast of characters who bring this novel to life and fill it with laugher! Jen works wisely through difficult topics like adoption, forgiveness and worth whilst keeping the novel light and fun. If you are looking for an adventure, be sure to pick this one up. It’s a five out of five on the enJOYment scale and highly recommended!

"Another bizarre turn to what is becoming a very strange night." What a fun and surprisingly unique book! I was totally expecting a well-written, hilarious historical fiction set in the Gilded Age of America (which the author is known for), but this book was so much more. Filled with intrigue, mystery, a group of secondary characters who are absolutely ridiculous and lovable, and a wonderful theme of looking at the heart and not the outside of a person, this book clearly demonstrates why Jen Turano is such a beloved author of historical fiction. I enjoyed getting to know Gabriella, a reformed thief who is sassy, impulsive, headstrong, temperamental but also loving and loyal. Nicholas is her former partner in crime and best friend who is now a high society gentleman of means and his gentle sweetness and protectiveness are endearing. Though they start off on the wrong foot during an unexpected reunion, they keep getting thrown together. As Gabriella and her housemates form Bleeker Street Inquiry Agency to solve mysteries and grievances throughout NYC, Nicholas and his friends become further and further involved in the welfare of the ladies of the Agency. There is plenty of humor and adventure from the start and the plot moves at a quick pace with quite a few surprises thrown along the way. A jewelry thief, plotting and vicious society matrons, and questions about Gabriella and Nicholas' parentage will have you scrambling to figure out the pieces of this fantastic puzzle. It's a great start to her new series and I can't wait to see what the author has in store for the next book. I received a copy of the book from Bethany House Publishers via Celebrate Lit Tours and was under no obligation to post a positive review. All comments and opinions are solely my own.

As you begin this book you are about to go too balls and mingle with the 400, not don't get too comfortable or dazzled, these people, for the most are snobs. Kind of a Robin Hood going on here, but these are former pick pockets as children, and you are going to see how they act as adults. Keep reading secrets and bombshells begin falling, and we are there to watch them drop. An entertaining read for sure, and if you've read this author before, she doesn't disappoint! I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Bethany House, and was not required to give a positive review.
