  • A: Hi! If you haven't noticed a significant improvement in Wi-Fi coverage after installing the extender, we recommend relocating the unit to a position within your home where the router's Wi-Fi signal is sufficiently strong; yet far enough from the router to effectively extend its range toward the dead zone. Please verify the RE status LED is indicating a solid connection. We also recommend ensuring the extender's firmware is fully up-to-date, using the steps outlined in FAQ 1406 on our official website. Our TP-Link Deco Mesh Wi-Fi Systems are designed to replace your existing Wi-Fi router using multiple Mesh nodes that provide whole-home Wi-Fi coverage.

Q: I have two small cottages that are 50' from the main cottage & another that is 150' from the main cottage. There is currently no wifi at these three locations. I have Xfinity. Will this reach?

submitted by Saganook - 2 years ago
  • A: Hi! The TP-Link RE605X Wi-Fi Extender is designed to provide additional Wi-Fi 6 coverage within your home. For your scenario, it will primarily depend on the placement of the extender, the layout of the cottages, and the range provided by your existing router. However, if you are looking to provide omnidirectional outdoor coverage over several hundred feet, we would also recommend considering one of our Outdoor Wi-Fi Access Point models, such as the TP-Link EAP610-Outdoor.

Q: What is the range coverage of the extender

submitted by James - 3 years ago
  • A: Hi! The extended range offered by the RE605X will vary depending on your installation environment. Coverage will depend on numerous variables including, but not limited to: - Placement of the extender - Physical obstructions (e.g. walls, etc.) between the extender, your router, and your devices - Distance between the extender and your devices - Which Wi-Fi band you are connecting to (2.4GHz vs. 5GHz) We generally recommend placing the extender in a position within your home where the router's Wi-Fi signal is sufficiently strong; yet far enough from the router to effectively extend its range.

Purchased this to extend our WiFi to our lower level (not official basement, only 5 steps down). I work from home down there, and we have an Xbox that is used for online gaming down there also. Horrible download speeds down there before this extender, even with WiFi company’s extender pods. Connected to our WiFi (Xfinity) with no issues. I’ve had it for 6 months with no issues. It stays connected. No internet issues when I would previously struggle to load webpages, stay connected in Zoom meetings, etc. So glad I purchased it. It is placed within recommended range.

Quite impressed with this little guy. I live in a 4-floor townhouse. The router is on the second floor and I'm on the third floor. Before getting the extender, my download speed was around 10 Mbps, and so installing games from Steam would take at least more than a hour or two to complete. After getting the extender, my download speed went up to at least 186 Mbps! Upload speed went up significantly too.

After trying numerous extenders, I couldn’t be happier with this TP-Link Dual. I needed to extend stronger service from my main home to the art studio/carriage house on my property & just kept running into issues. First day plugging it in, within 10 minutes I had full bar service not only throughout main house on numerous computers/phones/TVs/etc but especially in the studio about 500 ft. across property. I’d like to add, I live in a very mountainous/hilly area on the northeastern coast where we lack a tower near by so we’ve always had poor service & constant issues with such. So for it to work so well here, I can’t imagine how well it would work in a smoother, more covered service zone. It’s been a few months now of winter storms & winds and service is still just as strong as day one!

great wifi mesh extender - 1 year ago
WE recently bought the TP archer ax3000 router. Great router. We live in a condo and have a dead zone in 1 part of our liliving room. We just bought this and what a difference. Our router is one mesh. and this extender can be made to one mesh. Absouluterly no need to add anoher network. It was so easy to set up since our router is a TP link too.

So we live in the mother-in-law house on my parents property (hard times). Working from home the internet from the main house was so spotty. I had to literally stay in one spot the whole time. Started affecting my job. We decided to try this product before entertaining more expensive options. I definitely recommend this model. It's supper powerful, independent Wi-Fi login; and it doesn't affect the main house internet speed. Love love love

I purchased this wifi range extender after a TERRIBLE experience with a NETGEAR wifi range extender product. Let me start off by saying that this device is BRILLIANT. Setting up the device took me no more than 5 minutes. It was harder to drive to Target and purchase the extender than setting it up. If you are someone who is looking to enhance the preformance and range of your existing wifi; please look no further.

I have pretty good coverage with a TP-Link AX1800/Archer AX21 router, but I wanted to improve the signal at a Ring doorbell and in a detached workshop. Basically, the connections and speeds were the same whether the RE605X was running or not, with it installed in multiple locations. A big problem is that it does not extend enough networks. On their website they imply that it does not do guest networks, but to me it appears that it only does two (2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz) and you can pick them from any network it can see, if you have the password. Perhaps you could buy two of these and extend four networks, but that's costly, plus it doesn't seem to work well enough to be worthwhile.

Hi, Thank you for your review. If you haven't noticed a significant improvement in Wi-Fi coverage after installing the extender, we recommend relocating the unit to a position within your home where the router's Wi-Fi signal is sufficiently strong; yet far enough from the router to effectively extend its range. Please verify the RE status LED is indicating a solid connection. Please also ensure the client device(s), such as your Ring Doorbell, are connecting to the extender and not "holding on" to the router's signal instead. We also recommend ensuring the extender's firmware is fully up to date using the steps outlined in FAQ 1406 on our official website. To locate this FAQ, visit our website and enter 1406 in the top-right search field, then click the corresponding FAQ in the search results. If you would like assistance with any of these steps, please reach out to our free support team using any of the resources included with the product, or from our official website, and we'll gladly have a Support Agent follow up with you directly. Thank you, TP-Link Support
