[1] Claims about 802.11ax Wi-Fi technology are based on comparisons of the expected maximum theoretical data rates for one spatial stream using 802.11ax at 160 MHz (1201 Mbps) as opposed to one spatial stream using 802.11ac at 80 MHz (433 Mbps) as documented in IEEE 802.11ax draft 3.0 spec and IEEE 802.11-2016 wireless standard specifications, and require the use of similarly configured 802.11ax wireless network routers. Use of 802.11ax Wi-Fi standard requires clients to also support the 802.11ax Wi-Fi standard.
[2] 802.11ax 2x2 160MHz enables 2402Mbps maximum theoretical data rates, 3X faster than standard 802.11ac 2x2 80MHz (867Mbps) and nearly 6x faster than baseline 1x1ac (433Mbps) Wi-Fi as documented in IEEE 802.11 wireless standard specifications, and require the use of similarly configured 802.11ax wireless network routers.
[3] Use of OFDMA requires clients to also support OFDMA.
[4] Saving clients' battery power requires clients to also support the 802.11ax Wi-Fi standard. Actual power reduction may vary as a result of network conditions, client limitations, and environmental factors.
[5] Actual network speed may be limited by the rate of the product's Ethernet WAN or LAN port, the rate supported by the network cable, Internet service provider factors and other environmental conditions.

  • A: Hi! This router can be used to provide dual-band Wi-Fi connectivity to the devices within your home. If you are wondering whether a Wi-Fi enabled set-top-box can connect to the router's Wi-Fi network, then yes, it should just fine. However, if your Internet provider is DirecTV, and you are asking whether the router can be used in conjunction with your ISP, the answer would also be yes - as long as the router is wired via Ethernet cable directly to your existing Internet source (e.g., modem, ONT, gateway).

Hi, Thank you for your review. To ensure the best possible signal, it is important to make sure placement is as optimal as possible. Reducing obstructions and placing the router in a central location will help ensure your signal reaches the areas you need. Your wireless signal and connection can be optimized in multiple ways to ensure you get the most out of your router. In modern network environments, it is common for neighboring 2.4GHz wireless networks to overlap, causing Wi-Fi congestion and interference. By changing the 2.4GHz wireless channel, you can improve wireless signal strength, bandwidth, and range. Please take a moment to look over our FAQ 2292 on our official website regarding changing the wireless channel. To ensure optimal performance of your wireless router please check, and if needed, update its firmware using the steps outlined in FAQ 2139 on our official website. To locate this FAQ, visit our website and enter 2139 in the top-right search field, then click the corresponding FAQ in the search results. If you would like assistance with any of these steps, please reach out to our free support team using any of the resources included with the product, or from our official website, and we'll gladly have a Support Agent follow up with you directly. I wouldn't suggest buying the TP Link Ax3000. Jokingly, maybe the TP stands for something. It worked fast for about 2 months and failed. I replaced it with a Google/Nest mesh router, the newest one. The Ax3000 made a lot of heat for a small device while it lasted.

I never set up a modem or router before. Wanted to get rid of the monthly cable gateway fee. Stopped in target for this and the Motorola MB8611. I had zero issues. Works better than the ISP provided and extremely easy set up and that’s coming from someone that’s never done this before. Very respectable performance for the money. My wife and myself have been working from home with it and no issues whatsoever. Get about 650 mbs on my iPhone in same room and 4-500 upstairs. 950 wired.

They have a free iPhone app that helps with the set up, which was quick and easy. It’s working well with our Comcast Xfinity cable internet. The online speeds are as fast as expected. The WiFi is connecting well for our iPhones, iPads, and both Mac and Windows laptops. For some reason our TCL Roku TV wouldn’t connect to the WiFi, so we used an Ethernet cable from the TV to the router, which works well. Otherwise, everything works as expected.

    Speedy network with painless setup

I replaced a fancy Nighthawk router with this one when I started having issues with it. It helps to know you have to set up a router by plugging in directly and using a browser to go to the address 192.168.0.1, but after that the setup process was very simple and clear. At the same time, there's an optional Advanced menu that let me tailor my network exactly how I like it, including a neat option to automatically reboot once a week to avoid issues before they start. It was a quick, painless experience, and I couldn't be more happy with my connection now. Sometimes I can hardly believe some of my wireless devices didn't secretly plug themselves in directly.

I got this when we switched from cable to streaming using just the internet and fire sticks. This router pumps out a strong reliable signal perfect for streaming and gaming at the same time. It has 4 LAN ports, dual bands, 5G, and a companion app that alerts you when a new device connects. With all the features, this router is well worth the price!

John - 4 years ago, Verified purchaser
WOW! This WiFi router is unbelievable! It takes a wired connection (in my case 500Mbs service) and transmits it without loss of signal across the house. I didn't even think this is possible but I guess technology has changed. I wish I had this product last year when the pandemic started and the entire family was working off a single slow connection. This is just a game changer. I highly recommend this router. Without it you are just wasting your internet service bandwidth that we all pay so much for.
