Q&A(13)
Q: Is this product to be used in the AM or PM?
A: Hello! What a wonderful question! We’re thrilled that you reached out to us! Our Truskin Vitamin C super serum Plus, packed with SAP (Vitamin C), Hyaluronic Acid, Niacinamide, Retinol, and more, is designed to elevate your skincare routine with just a few applications each week (A little goes a long way with our powerhouse serum). You can use it either in the morning or evening, whichever suits you best. Simply apply it to clean skin (like after using our Vitamin Cleanser or Gentle Face Scrub), then follow with a moisturizer—our Vitamin C Moisturizer pairs perfectly! If you choose to use it in the morning, don’t forget to follow up with sunscreen (we recommend Truskin Vitamin C SPF 30 Mineral Sunscreen) to keep your skin protected, as retinol is sun-sensitive. We also suggest a quick patch test first: apply a small amount to your arm, face, or neck 24–48 hours before your first full use. And since we recommend using this serum 2–3 times a week, you might enjoy alternating it with our best-selling Truskin Vitamin C Serum for a complete, nourishing skincare regimen. /TruSkin Brand Team/

Q: What is the PH level of the serum
A: Thank you so much for reaching out with your question! Our Vitamin C Plus Super Serum is thoughtfully designed with a pH range of 5.75 to 6.75, beautifully complementing the formula, which features features Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, a stable, gentle, and highly effective form of Vitamin C. Unlike traditional Ascorbic Acid, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate thrives in this slightly higher pH range, allowing it to deliver its full potential while being gentle on your skin. This is much more than a Vitamin C serum, of course, as it is carefully crafted with other powerhouse ingredients like Retinol, Hyaluronic Acid, Niacinamide, and a bouquet of botanicals to create a well-rounded, skin-loving formula you can feel great about. We’re so happy you’re taking the time to learn more about our products, and we’re always here if you have any other questions. -TruSkin Team

Q: Is it ok to use tru skin in the AM, and apply a retinol product at night?
A: Hello! We’re thrilled you’re interested in making Truskin Vitamin C Super Serum a part of your skincare routine. Generally speaking, it is fine to use TruSkin Vitamin C Super Serum in the morning (we recommend following up with a sunscreen) and yes you can but do not have to apply a separate retinol product at night. Vitamin C Super Serum is a thoughtfully crafted blend of Niacinamide, Vitamin C (Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate), Squalane, Cassia Angustifolia Polysaccharide (i.e., a botanical alternative to Hyaluronic Acid), and Retinol. This unique formula works beautifully together—Vitamin C delivers brightening, complexion-enhancing results, Retinol helps renew and smooth skin texture, and Niacinamide evens skin tone and calms sensitivity, while hydrating ingredients like Cassia Angustifolia and Squalane keep your skin looking plump, nourished, and balanced for a radiant, healthy glow. Since every skin is unique and reacts differently, it’s important to introduce any new product gradually into your skincare routine. Start with Vitamin C Super Serum 2–3 times a week and increase frequency as your skin adjusts. Whether you’re just now introducing a retinol product at night or you’ve already been using one, it’s essential to ensure your skin can tolerate both. Here’s a helpful guide: • Use TruSkin Vitamin C Super Serum in the morning as directed. • If you are using TruSkin Retinol Facial Serum, which is thoughtfully curated for even sensitive skin types, you can safely begin with 2–3 times per week. If you’re using a high-strength retinol serum or product from another brand, start gradually as well, or follow the instructions provided by that brand, and always observe how your skin reacts in both the cases. Keep an eye on any signs of over-exfoliation, like redness, peeling, or irritation. If you notice any discomfort, consider alternating nights or simplifying your routine. And don’t forget—using sunscreen in the morning is a must when applying products with retinol to protect your skin from UV damage. Lastly, as always, we recommend performing a patch test before introducing any new product to ensure compatibility with your skin. Let us know if you have any other questions—we’re here to help and excited to support your skincare journey! /TruSkin Brand Team/

Q: I didn’t think you were supposed to use Retinol with Vitamin C and they are both in this serum
A: Hello! Great Question! The short answer is that it’s not only okay to use them together, but we think it’s a great combo for enhanced brightening and skin-rejuvenating benefits. Let us explain… There’s a commonly held notion that Retinol and Vitamin C can’t be used together, which is born out of the belief that they require different pH levels to work optimally. However, this compatibility concern is only true for the Ascorbic Acid form of Vitamin C. In our carefully curated Vitamin C Super Serum Plus, we use Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (SAP), a more stable, gentler form of Vitamin that doesn’t require a low pH to be effective. Along those lines, our serum’s balanced pH range is not only suitable for sensitive skin types, but it’s also ideal for both SAP and Retinol to work harmoniously without any compatibility issues or compromising their potency. The bottom line is that, when formulated properly, Vitamin C (SAP) and Retinol not only work well together, but they are a dynamic duo offering complementary benefits: SAP helps brighten the skin and provides antioxidant protection, while Retinol aids in skin renewal, reduces the appearance of fine lines, and improves texture. Together, they provide powerful healthy aging and brightening effects, not to mention that we’ve added Cassia Angustifolia Seed Polysaccharide for deep hydration and Squalane to strengthen the skin’s moisture barrier Of course, as skin types vary, so too can results. Along those lines, we recommend doing a patch test (i.e., applying the product to a small area of your arm, face, or neck at least 24–48 hours before applying to your entire face) to make sure the ingredients are suitable for your skin. Start with a couple of nights a week and gradually increase frequency as your skin adjusts. Additionally, because Retinol may increase skin sensitivity to sunlight, we recommend always using sunscreen during the day. /TruSkin Brand Team/

Q: I've been using this Vitamin C Super Serum for several months and keep it refrigerated for longer shelf life (as instructed with other C-serums). How long is the shelf life for this product?
A: Hello! The vitamin C used in this formula is stable enough that it doesn't require refrigeration, but keeping it in the fridge certainly won't damage the formula. Some consumers keep it the fridge during summer months for a cool and refreshing feeling upon application. TruSkin Serums are formulated with 2 year shelf life. We can help provide an “expiration date” based on the lot code. Please contact us at Support@TruSkin.com. - TruSkin Team

Q: how many percent retinol?
A: TruSkin’s Vitamin C Serum utilizes sodium ascorbyl phosphate (SAP) because SAP has proven to be the most stable form of Vitamin C vs. the potent forms, which tend to oxidize quickly and lose their efficacy faster. Unlike other types of Vitamin C, SAP is very gentle on the skin and is best for all skin types, from sensitive to Normal. Due to its ability to remain stable for a longer time, it is more likely to address the skin concerns like fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, etc. SAP can be stable in the PH of 5 – 7, which is well–tolerated by the skin, vs. other forms, which need lower PH to get stabilized, which can, in the longer term, harm the skin. Along with a beautiful ingredient like SAP, we also use Botanical HA, MSM, and Vitamin E, which help hydrate and nourish the skin. Our Serum is fully packed with primary ingredients like mentioned above and beautiful plant-powered extracts which can synergistically work together to provide beautiful and healthy-looking skin for longer results. However, unfortunately, as a part of the trade secret, we will not be able to release the % of our ingredients. Rest assured, our products are dermatologist tested, Vegan and Cruelty-Free. -TruSkin Team

Q: Can either the C serum or the C+ serum be used around the eye area?
A: You can use Vitamin C Serum around the eye area. The C Super Serum+ is a more concentrated formula containing salicylic acid, a powerful ingredient generally not recommended for use near the eye area.
