About the Book
"How will you know what's possible if you don't try? This is a story for anyone who has ever felt like a beginner, or had doubts, or worried they weren't good enough. It's a story for those who have experienced the pain of trying something new and not having it turn out as they had hoped. So, in many ways, it is a sotry for every one of us. Because at some point in our lives, we will all fail. Failure can be disappointing, and even heartbreaking, but the story doesn't end there. Because failure has so much to offer. It's a necessary step to learning, to growing, to getting better. It can show us how badly we want something--and how hard we are willing to get it. It challenges us to be brave, to take heart, and to try again. And yes, there will be times when you'll question yourself. You may want to give up. But if you believe--if you practice and press on--you can do amazing things."--Provided by publisher.Book Synopsis

Lovely message, flawed writing

There are two points in this book where I turned back to see if I was missing a page due to poor transitions in the writing. The story is written in past tense, but it’s not immediately clear that the story is written from the point of view of an adult looking back on being a child. The realization of this comes very abruptly and unpleasantly. It’s just unfortunate that these issues take the reader out of the story and disrupt the message. The illustrations are beautiful, but I think it was a missed opportunity since they could help show the passage of time by shifting from grayscale to color. I would recommend this book to artists for the message (and perhaps to writers who could benefit from studying its flaws), but I don’t think it has much entertainment value for kids.
Beautuful book for kids and grown ups!

We got this book for my four-year-old daughter for Christmas. It has a valuable message about not letting fear of failure hold you back & viewing missteps as opportunities. It’s an important message for people all ages! And the illustrations are beautiful
