A: Hello Barb! The wheels do not come pre-attached to the rest of the item, so technically, you do have the option to leave them off while assembling. However, please note the trundle will not slide as easily without the wheels. Have a great day!

Q: Is the width of this bed definitely 38 inches - I previously purchased one that looks the same - but it measured 40 inches in width - which was too wide. Can you please confirm the bed measurements.

The support bars don't feel very strong individually but once you put it together the frame seems solid. The plastic attachments to reinforce the middle also don't feel like they can support a lot of weight, but once connected seem surprisingly strong. I would not recommend for active kids that like jumping on the mattress or for people over 200lbs, but it seems to work well for my teenagers and family. I like that it is not bulky or heavy, moves easily, and fits nice under a standard twin bunk bed. Our family used it over Thanksgiving and our guest said they slept comfortably. We use a standard foam mattress on this trundle.
