At U Brands® we are looking for ways to be kinder to the planet. That is why we have created U-Eco™, a line of sustainable writing instruments. We want to provide the option for a better looking, better performing pen that is also better for the environment. By using renewable and reclaimed wheat straw we reduce the amount of plastic in our pens, lowering our carbon footprint and reducing plastic waste.

Q: Once the pen is out of ink, is it safe to recycle them? Or should one throw them in the trash?

A: Hi Han, we are happy to see your interest in our 4ct Gel Ink Pens! The wheat straw plastic we use in our U Eco pens are not recyclable, but are compostable. They can be composted at private or commercial sites.

DONT BUY!! Can’t refill pens. If you ask customer service from Ubrand, they basically tell you to buy more pens, which defeats the purpose of being eco friendly. What a waste. Shame on this company for false advertising. Real eco friendly companies would offer refills so you’re not causing more waste.

I never leave reviews, but these pens call for one. They are cute, but they smudge and goop up (I’m a lefty, so that definitely doesn’t help). I also find them incredibly scratchy. They also run out of ink fast. I finished one pen in three weeks taking notes for my job. Additionally, these don’t seem eco friendly as it’s difficult to find ink cartridges.
