The situation you describe is extremely unusual so we'd like to provide our Design and Manufacturing teams with any additional information that can help us diagnose what could have gone wrong. Any more detailed information would be extremely useful. For example, was there any problems installing the screws into the drywall? Were the screws flush to the wall and solid prior to hanging the mirror? How big was the mirror and what was it's weight? What type of hangers were on the back of the mirror? Did the screws come out of the wall immeditately or after some time? Anything at all would help us to determine what may have happened, or if there is somethings specific our teams can look at on the product. Hi Calvin, thanks for taking the time to leave your review, we appreciate the feedback! Our DécoScrews™ are designed to work with most hanging hardware, including keyhole hangers. As these hangers come in a wide variety of sizes, the screw will not fit on 100% of the sizes available. The diameter of the head of the DécoScrew is just under 1/4 in (0.20 in) so as long as the large opening in the keyhole is bigger than that, it should work. The same goes for D-Ring hangers - as long as the main opening is larger than the diameter of the head of the screw, it will hang correctly. Happy decorating! - The UTR Team

We are sorry that our DecoScrews™ are not working out the way that you anticipated, and we'd love to get some more information from you in order to better understand what happened. From your comment, it sounds like you were pre-drilling the wall in order to install the screws is that correct? Please note that DécoScrews are designed to screw directly into drywall with no pre-drilling required. In fact, the reason that they create such a firm hold is that as they are being installed, each part of the screw thread is surrounded entirely by fresh drywall. If they are installed into an existing (or pre-drilled) hole, then the threads don't have as much to grip on to, and you also run the risk of making the hole too big, in which case they can't hold only any drywall at all. Regarding the pressure needed to install the screw, the only pressure required is to get the screw started by piercing the drywall with the sharp tip of the screw. This is no different than starting a standard drywall screw for example. We've been selling these DécoSCrews™ for many years and an incident like the one you describe is extremely rare, so we'd like to share some details with our Design and Manufacturing teams to understand what happened and see if there are any changes to the product that could have helped prevent it. For example what kind of hanger was on the picture / what was the weight of the item you were hanging / how old and the condition of the drywall / was there any damage to the screw / did part of the screw break off / was there any problems installing the screw / did the screw feel loose in the wall prior to hanging the picture / was there any damage around the hole in the drywall? Any kind of information along those lines would be extremely helpful. We would also like to get more information from you if possible, as this is the first time that we have ever heard of the screw going right through the wall. We designed the DécoScrew™ with a large flange that sits flush with the surface of the drywall to prevent the screw moving any further into the wall. If you would be able to send any additional information or photos to info@utrdecorating.com we can share it with our Design and Manufacturing teams to try and understand what led to this unusual situation. Things like the age and thickness of the drywall would be of interest, and how the screw was installed (i.e. by hand or with a power tool etc) would all be great information to have. We have designed our DécoScrews™ with a patented head shape that includes a groove to securely hold your wall décor hanging hardware to prevent it from slipping off. As long as the item you are hanging on the head fits securely into this groove, you will have no problem getting a secure hold, as you mentioned. Happy decorating! - The UTR Team

We’re actually surprised to hear that the DécoScrews fit the hardware on the back of the floating shelves. They were never designed to be the ideal fastener for floating shelves. For these types of shelves, it is important that the gap between the wall and the screw be adjustable, so that a secure fit can be made that is specific to the particular shelf. We still stand by our 30lb weight test as long as the product is being used as instructed.
