Q: What's the height of the shelves?
A: Each of the two slatted shelves is 3/8" high plus an extra 3/8" for the height of the perpendicular slat below the shelf that holds the horizontal slats together. Each slatted shelf is 27" wide (from side to side) and 15 7/8" deep (from front to back). The clearance between the bottom shelf and the middle shelf is 13 3/8" (except below the perpendicular slat on the middle shelf, where the clearance is 13")--and the clearance between the middle shelf and the underside of the cart's top is 12 3/8". The shelves are quite spacious. I store multiple crockpots, pitchers, and steamers on the bottom shelf and a small coffee pot, a rice cooker, two stacked 12 3/4 "-wide tiers of K-cup pods, multiple cutting boards, and some microwave cookware on the middle shelf. There is a bit of free space left over on each shelf. The top of the cart easily holds my Samsung Smart Oven, which is a large combination microwave, convection oven, and toaster oven--again, with free space all around the oven.

submitted byWinsome Expert - 8 years agoBrand expertA: (Corrected to use words to replace the coding that the computer inserted for the inch mark) Each of the two slatted shelves is 3/8 of an inch high plus an extra 3/8 inch for the height of the perpendicular slat below the shelf that holds the horizontal slats together. Each slatted shelf is 27 inches wide (from side to side) and 15 7/8 inches deep (from front to back). The clearance between the bottom shelf and the middle shelf is 13 3/8 inches (except below the perpendicular slat on the middle shelf, where the clearance is 13 inches)--and the clearance between the middle shelf and the underside of the cart's top is 12 3/8 inches. The shelves are quite spacious and sturdy. I store multiple crockpots, pitchers, and steamers on the bottom shelf and a small coffee pot, a rice cooker, two stacked 12 3/4 inch-wide tiers of K-cup pods, multiple cutting boards, and some microwave cookware on the middle shelf. There is a bit of free space left over on each shelf. Q: Do you need to put on the knife holder and towel rack? Will there be holes in the wood if they are left off?
A: I think you would not have to put the knife holder on the cart. I would have to remove mine to see the size of the holes, but I think you could shave and/or cut off the ends of the pegs that hold the knife holder on the cart and then insert the pegs in the holes to disguise the holes. Having put my cart together more than a year ago, I don't remember whether the towel rack came assembled already. It appears to be part of the structure that supports the top of the cart and keeps the legs parallel.
submitted byTech Gadget Lover - 8 years agoA: The towel rack is pre-assembled to the unit top. As for the knife block, this does not need to be assembled but do note this unit is pre-drilled for assembly purposes.
