Our Zena was diagnosed with arthritis in one leg and had been on Consequin for at least a year. Our vet suggested adding this fish oil supplement a few times a week, and we noticed a definite improvement after a month or two. Her limp is much less pronounced, smoother gait.
A super easy way to add Omegas!

My vet recommended adding more Omegas into my senior dogs' diets to help their joints and cognitive function, so I went looking for something that I could easily add into my routine. The more I learned about the benefits of Omegas (brain health, heart health, immune health, gut health, skin and coat, joints, omg the list goes on and on) the more I knew I needed someone legit. A lot of the fish oils I looked into couldn't tell me anything about mgs per dosage or what the Omega 3:6 ratio was, which made me a little nervous. I like that Omega 3.6.9. clearly lists the breakdown of the fatty acids per capsule so you know exactly what you're giving your dog. It's so great that I've convinced a few of my friends to start buying it for their senior dogs, too! If you're not supplementing with Omega fatty acids, you are missing out.
Possible adverse effect

I wrote a prior review for this product and still feel the Omega 3 supplement has improved the skin and hair growth of one of my dogs. However, I spoke with a customer representative (5 star) regarding the potential adverse effect the product had on my other pup taking the supplement. He has a history of seizures that were well controlled on phenobarbital for 5 years. Unfortunately, after he took the supplement for a week and a half, he had a terrible seizure which was possibly due to the supplement. There have been no other changes to his diet nor to his activity. This supplement contains borage seed oil which, according to credible medical sources, can lower seizure threshold or cause status epilepticus. I also provided this feedback in a prior review which seems to have been removed, yet also received a request to review the product via email (?). My suggestion would be to include a warning that for pet owners that have dogs with a history of seizures to select a different omega 3 supplement due to the potential adverse effect.

My rating is a bit complicated. The Omega 3, 6, 9 capsule is a very good product for one of my dogs. I wrote a prior review about the benefits for the skin and hair. I ordered this product as my veterinarian recommended an omega 3 supplement for cognitive health for my senior pups, and have trusted products made by this company because they are researched and high quality. One of my dogs takes the GlycoFlex III and Hepaticlear Pro which have done well for him for many years. The Omega 3 supplement is also working well for him as it has greatly improved the condition of his skin and hair. The only drawback is that my other senior pup who took the Omega 3 supplement has a history of seizures treated with phenobarbital. His seizures were well controlled for years until he started the supplement. Unfortunately, he had a severe seizure a few days ago, for which my only explanation is the use of the product. One of the ingredients (listed as inactive) is borage seed oil. Looking up prior research for this CAM ingredient, it's been documented that borage seed oil can lower seizure threshold or cause status epilepticus in patients with known (or even no prior) history of seizure disorder. Prior to him taking the supplement, his seizures were well controlled with no seizure for the past 5+ years as he's on the seizure medication. I did contact customer service (the representative was very receptive and responsive - 5 star service) who stated that she would share this information with the research team. My only suggestion would be that a warning label should be added to the product due to this potential adverse effect for pets that have known seizure disorder to perhaps select a different omega 3 product. The fact that the label is forthcoming with the ingredients is commendable and perhaps the company can also be forthcoming with additional information regarding the potential side effects of relatively unknown ingredients to the public. Thank you for listening.

I began giving this product to my two senior Yorkie/Poodle dogs a few weeks ago. They are both 11 years old, and I started giving them the supplement when their vet recommended an omega-3 supplement for cognitive health. One of my dogs has diabetes mellitus and required a continuous glucose monitor for 2 weeks which was placed on his side with adhesive. Unfortunately, after removal of the monitor, the hair only minimally grew back and was much thinner than before (he needed the monitor to regulate his blood sugars, and had to have the area shaved to place it). Since he's been taking the supplement, his hair has grown in thicker, shinier and much softer than before, which is an added benefit. He's always had thin hair, but this supplement seems to be helping tremendously with his skin and hair.
Nice, all around Omega supplement by a nice company.

My pup likes it and I trust VetriScience to deliver high quality product to aid in my pup's health. I have used Other VetriScience products before but his was the first time I purchased directly from VetriScience. And am new to purchasing the Omega 3 6 9. Before that I had used other healthy oils and switched after my pup lipid levels were thru the roof at her last vet physical - we have a follow up retest planned and she has lots weight which was also increased since the change and I can't wait to see theretest results. What I also like is the capsules rather than dispensing the oil via pump bottle - it was messy at times including bottles leaking during shipment - but not VetriScience product! The product was quickly shipped and rec'd earlier than I expected.!

NO LONGER SOFT GEL CAPS

Have been giving these gel caps to my dog for the past three years. Lately, this product has changed from soft gel caps to hard. My dog chews these capsules and because of the hard shell, the oils squirt out onto the floor. My dog takes these gel caps happily, but wonder how much benefit he gets if he's missing some of the oils?
I would not buy this product again.

I purchased this product previously for my two small dogs. Was able to push a hole in the capsule with a toothpick in order to split the dose between two meals. Worked great. Now the capsules in the second bottle are very hard and no way would I consider them soft gels. I need to use a knife with these and they end up cracking and the oil inside spills all over. I'm very disappointed and now searching for a different brand with true soft gels.
