Description
VetriScience® Laboratories’ UT Strength Feline can be used long term for those cats that are prone to urinary tract issues or crystals.
UT Strength contains D-Mannose, a naturally occurring simple sugar that removes harmful bacteria by attachment and voiding. It’s absorbed eight times slower than glucose and is not converted to glycogen or stored in the liver when ingested. Rather, D-Mannose goes directly into the blood stream from the kidneys to the bladder. The bacteria displaced by D-Mannose are responsible for 80 to 90 percent of UTIs. Antibiotic treatment may cause an imbalance in the normal flora.
UT Strength Feline also features N-acetyl glucosamine or NAG, an important form of glucosamine found in the body. It is the form that is used for the production of glycoproteins. The glycoprotein layer in the mucosal lining of the urinary tract has a high content of NAG. This layer of mucosal cells is the protective barrier against acids and bacteria.

Summary of reviews
This product has received mixed feedback from guests, particularly regarding its texture and palatability for cats. While some guests report positive experiences, noting improvements in their cats' urinary health and enjoyment of the flavor, others struggle with the hardness of the chews, making them difficult for their pets to consume. Guests suggest breaking the chews into smaller pieces or mixing them with wet food to enhance acceptance. Overall, the product's effectiveness in supporting urinary health is appreciated by some, despite the challenges with texture.

My cat won't eat these treats

Hi Diana,
Thank you for giving our UT Strength chews a try with your cat. Although we pride ourselves on high palatability ratings, some pets may not always like the taste of our supplements. Here are some tips and tricks to help entice your pet to eat our products and live healthier lives every day:
• Break into smaller pieces and mix with food. Try using a cheese grater and wet food.
• Add dry kibble or favorite treats to the package and shake prior to administering. This coats the chews with a flavor/smell your pet already knows and loves.
• Try using catnip for cats.
With our 100% satisfaction guarantee, you can return this product to us for a replacement bag or full refund within 45 days of the purchase date. Please contact us at 1-800-882-9993 for further assistance. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and please let us know if there's anything else we can do to help.

So, D-mannose and cranberry are specifically for the prevention of E. coli UTIs. My own FLUTD/FIC cat with a urethrostomy used to get regular UTIs, including a few E. coli infections and one MDR E. coli. I started him on this supplement after that infection was treated, and in the past 7 years he hasn't had another E. coli UTI. He has had a few other UTIs, as well several sterile FIC flares, which this product may help mitigate but isn't intended to prevent. So, that's a sample size of one but I'm a fan and I recommend this product to clients with FLUTD cats. My only complaint is that the texture isn't consistent; some bags, the chews are softer or harder, and it's harder for the cat to chew it when it's hard and dry. Breaking the chew into three pieces makes it easier to eat, but I think adding some kind of humidity control in the packaging center might be beneficial.
Why doesn't this come in a powder?

This was great when I received it. Kitty loved smell and taste. Within a few days, the flavoring must have deteriorated. The smell doesn't interest her any longer. They are too hard for her. She has a limited number of teeth. I have to grind it to a powder and mix in her wet food. And hope she eats it. Excellent ingredients. Make it in a powder?

While it may help some cats, it was a waste of money for me as my cat won't touch it and if I crumble it onto his food he will not eat it.

Hi Malissa- Sorry to hear your kitty is not a fan of the UT Strength Supplements. All of our products undergo palatability testing, but some cats can be finnicky (mine included!). Please give one of our friendly customer care reps a call at 1-800-882-9993, M-F 8-5 est, and they will help you with a solution. Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback!

Fast shipping. My cat likes the chews but they are a little too hard for him. I break them up into little pieces and put in his food and he gobbles right up. He loves the taste. We just started him on the chews but I am hoping they will prevent any future urinary issues for him. He has PU surgery a few months ago for urinary blockage.

My cat was recently diagnosed with urinary crystals and it has been quite the nightmare finding anything healthy that he wants to eat! He loves these! We give him two a day but pretend they are treats and he believes it! They were a little tougher than I thought but my guy had no issues eating them. Writing this review on day 3 of the open bag!

Thank you Merri! We are sorry to hear your cat did not enjoy the flavor of the UT Strength product. As a cat owner myself I know how finicky they can be. Please reach out to a member of our Customer Care Team at 800-882-9993 and we will happily issue you a refund and we can also discuss other product options for you. We appreciate your feedback.

The chews are too large. Both my cats have a hard time picking them up due to their size and shape. A chew that is based off a cat treat size/shape would be a much better design.

My cat actually liked the smell and wanted to eat these! But they are too hard. I broke them in pieces and that was hard to do even with a knife. She tried swallowing the pieces whole but gave up and won't try them anymore.

Thanks for reaching to us. We're so sorry to hear about the difficulty that your cat had eating these chews. Since we use natural ingredients, it can lead to chews being harder and more difficulty to swallow than initially intended. With our 100% satisfaction guarantee, you can return the product to us for a replacement product or full refund. Please contact us at 1-800-882-9993 to initiate the return process. We certainly apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Hope this helps!

My vet suggested this product for my 16 year old cat who has recently developed UTI issues. After reading the reviews, I was concerned whether my finicky cat could handle these hard chews. I decided to give it a try. My cat LOVES these chewies. She thinks they are treats. Not one crumb remains. Each cat is different.
Yes, they are really hard

Yes, like other reviewers have mentioned, these treats are hard as a rock. There's simply no way my elderly cat with chronic UTIs could eat these as-is, because she's missing teeth as now has a sensitive mouth. However, I put the entire bag into the blender and now I have a bag of mostly powdered supplement that I mix into her wet food! It melts into the food and she gobbles it up! I'm not sure if they are actually helping her UTIs or not, as I give her several supplements at the same time, but I think they might be helpful. I've noticed there's a longer time period between UTIs since starting this product.
I think they work?

It's so hard to tell with supplements since I give her a few others at the same time. But I have noticed she seems to have had a longer time in between UTIs since taking this.

Our sweet girl had persistent UTI's and vet recommended getting these "treats" which have been a Godsend. She LOVES them and we don't have to warm them up or break them apart. Not sure about all of the negative reviews, but I know they have been worth every penny in our experience!
Only thing that keeps our kitty using the box

I don't know why these have terrible reviews. PLEASE do not stop making these. This is the only thing we've found that keeps our kitty from peeing outside of the box. They are a little large, but I just chop it up and mix it with her food. She used to eat them as a treat until we introduced her to canned food and now if I want her to eat it, I mix it with the wet food. I'm so glad we found these via our vet recommending them! Our basement has finally stopped smelling like pee and I don't have to constantly check the perimeter of the room.

Try this trick! I read the poor reviews, but my vet pushed me to order these. Yes, these are hard. But I discovered that if I microwave a treat 10-15 seconds, the treat becomes very soft. I squeeze it flat and break it into a few pieces and my picky cat gobbles these up!
