Was my only option for “cheese” due to allergies. Now they’ve changed the recipe and is no longer an option. Nearly had anaphylaxis due to not seeing recipe change till after I opened it. Has lentils now. So anyone with legume allergy beware recipe change

I have been buying this just like mozzarella shreds for a couple of years now. I’m allergic to over 30 things and have loved this product. HOWEVER they changed their ingredients to add lentil protein and it is no longer safe for me. I am beyond extremely disappointed that I no longer have a cheese substitute. I would use this product several times a week. This is a horrible way to “support the allergy community.” Based on other’s reviews it seems this hasn’t just affected me but many other people. VioLife do better.

I used to buy this cheese all the time. It was tasted good, especially compared to competitors vegan cheese, but most importantly it was free from ingredients that I can't eat which nearly all said competitors use. Much to my surprise, I opened the latest package this evening and immediately knew something was off. The cheese was slimy looking and not at all like usual. Suspicious due to multiple food sensitivities, I checked the ingredient list. To my dismay, it now contains citric acid- one of the things I cannot eat. Thank goodness I saw the difference and checked! Why do you have to go and ruin a good product?

My 7 year old has been eating this cheese for years. This was the only vegan cheese he could eat and he actually liked this one. I opened a new bag and noticed the look and smell was totally off. I checked the ingredients because my son has several severe food allergies and found that they changed it…and it now contains lentil protein which is an allergen of his. We are devastated. To my fellow consumers with allergies: beware! Always double check ingredients on products even if you have been using them for years. Please change the recipe back!!!

I used to love eating the mozzarella shreds but this new recipe is absolutely disgusting! The fact that the recipie keeps changing ingredients frequently is really dangerous for someone with allergies, like me. I started buying this brand because I am allergic to everything and have a very strict diet, but now I can't even have this cheese at all because of the latest change of adding lentils, which I'm extremely allergic to! Thank god I actually saw the tiny print that said that, which I'm sure many people did not! I'm really disappointed, the original recipe was much better and more inclusive for people like me.

Not the same Violife shreds as it used to be. Just recently picked up 2 bags of the Violife mozzarella and cheddar shreds. Been using these for years. It's my go to for my dairy, egg, peanut & tree nut allergic son. Didn't even notice that there was a change from the packaging. I started to make him pizza bread and noticed that the texture of the mozzarella was different. More like a wax. I used to enjoy eating it straight out of the bag, but now there is a weird aftertaste. Still, for the price you pay, I am going to use them especially since there's only a handful of dairy alternatives that are safe for us. It didn't fully melt like it used to. If I left it in any longer, it was going to be burnt. It doesn't taste awful, but this is definitely not an improvement. Not a fan of the change and I don't understand why companies do this to a perfectly good product. My suggestion is to go back to the previous 5 star recipe. It was great and I would eat it straight out of the bag. Not anymore.

I have had to avoid eating any dairy products due to health issues for over 10 years and finding a cheese alternative has been one of the biggest struggles, all the other alternative cheese have weird ingredients, yeast, taste awful and melt like plastic. But the violife cheese was the first brand I found with non dairy cheese that tasted like real cheese smelt like real cheese and melted like real cheese. It became one of the main ingredients in most of our dinners and after 10 years I could finally have more normal meals. But for some reason they completely changed the recipe to lower quality ingredients, making it so we no longer are able to eat it anymore. Along with it smelling horrible looking horrible and like plastic and it now taste horrible. Violife needs to change this back because you lost a customer for life, Just like Annies and So Delicious they built their brand on people with diet restrictions and once they become popular enough they turn their back on those customers who got them there.

As soon as I opened the bag I thought it didn’t look good., not the white, nice sized shreds of all previous bags. Product has a yellowish tinge and the shreds are very small and crumbly. The taste is of salt and I don’t know what but nothing like mozzarella. So here I am writing a review. I wanted to compare the ingredient list to the original recipe, specifically the salt content. How did it loose its mozzarella flavor and texture. It used to actually feel like very fresh cheese. So very disappointed.

Yesterday decided to make pizza and I knew I had to use violife mozzarella shreds. The pizza turned out great. My recommendation for using this cheese is not to overdo it. There was something about the melted cheese that was almost perfect. I am glad I didn't put too much cheese on and I think the next time, i will use just a little less. The cheese was pretty melty and very creamy, in other words, it was luscious! What suprised me the most was the next day I was eating the cold leftovers straight from the fridge. Eating it this way, I could not tell that It wasn't real diary cheese. It tasted exactly the same. Needless to say, I have found my forever cheese! it is delicious.

The bag smelled odd but I decided to still try it anyway. The cheese did not melt and it tasted super weird. Wouldn’t recommend… try another brand
