Q: Is this fan loud? I like to use fans for white noise and do not want a quiet fan.

A: They are not in the category of quiet or whisper quiet. Metal fans inherently have more noise than plastic ones. Though it's not a harsh sound.

Q: Are the grates easily removable for cleaning? We have a plastic version of this that (while really moves some air!) collects quite a bit of dust that is really hard to clean out.

A: Yes the front grill comes off easy, just one pinch clip in front.
