Q: Is the 6" width measurement for the top or the bottom/base of the basket (looks like the top is wider)? I need to know if the base will fit on a 5.5" shelf.

This narrow bin fit a tight space perfectly! The gray color is more of a warm brownish gray as opposed to a cool blue undertone gray. I prefer the tight weave because I didn’t need to see what was inside the basket, my needs were for storing one thing.
