The SSD came in due time and worked perfectly for the task assigned to it. It was purchased to replace a broken WD blue HDD with half the capacity in my brother in law's all in one desktop.

I use Western Digital exclusively, for many, many years. I've converted all internal HDDs to SSDs, and have more than a dozen externals - all Western Digital. Love them!

I purchased this SSD in July of last year, and initially, it worked fine. However, my experience turned into a nightmare as the drive died about three weeks ago. Upon further investigation, it's clear that this is not an isolated incident. Many other users have faced similar problems, and it's evident that there's an unacceptably high failure rate for this particular drive. The manufacturer's response to these issues has been nothing short of infuriating. As you can see from other reviewers that have received the same canned response about their supposedly strict quality standards. It is evident that these standards are not being met, and their copy-and-paste responses do little to reassure customers that they take these complaints seriously or have any intention of improving their product. I'm writing this review to express my profound disappointment with this SSD. It's not just about the loss of my data; it's about preventing others from enduring the same ordeal. I cannot emphasize enough that you should steer clear of this product. It's simply not worth the risk of losing your valuable data. Look elsewhere for a reliable and trustworthy SSD, as this one has proven to be anything but.

I purchased the 1TB SA510 drive on September 2nd, 2022. Fast forward to September 24th, 2023 and the drive is completely dead. I've tried it in different computers and have tried different SATA connectors and power connectors. I've now lost all of my data in just over a year of using this drive.

Total failure problems with SA510 line.

I have had one totally failed drive, and 3 slowly failing drives. Apparently this is a common problem with the SA510 product line. My failed drive was on a lightly used PC. After a month or so of non-use, it wouldn't boot from the drive. My sisters laptop used daily, started to fail at the same time, but we cloned the disk in time. She uses it extensively for work. My personal laptop is slow with SSD response speeds sometimes above 12 seconds, though this is possibly my fault from experiments I was running. My final PC I started using again just today is showing multiple BSODs. I can't be sure they're drive failures yet. But I never had problems before. Some on the forum claim the critical firmware update WD released doesn't work. I hope they figure this out soon. WD usually makes great stuff.
