This set of blue glass marbles is made in the USA and can be used as replacement marbles for the Wood Expressions/WE Games Marble Solitaire Game - SKUS 496109, 496009, 499009.
Legend says that Solitaire was invented to entertain Louis XIV, "The Sun King" who ruled from 1643 to 1715. A French engraving dating from 1697 shows Princess de Soubise playing the very fashionable game. The goal of this classic Marble Solitaire strategy game is to remove as many marbles as possible, by "jumping" one marble over another, either horizontally or vertically. The rules are deceptively simple as it is definitely an intriguing challenge. It's no wonder that Solitaire has endured in popularity over the centuries.
