Q: Is Weber chimney one that you put paper on bottom and charcoal on top and light the paper

submitted by Steve - 5 years ago
  • A: Yes, you can place newspaper on the bottom of the chimney to light the charcoal. You can also use fire cubes. Either method works.

  • A: Hello! With the Weber Rapidfire Chimney Starter you would put the charcoal on the inside and the Weber lighter cubes at the bottom. Thanks!

Q: Once the chimney is emptied into the grill, where should the chimney be placed? On what surface should the chimney be placed to light the briquettes?

submitted by HauntHunter - 1 year ago
  • A: Hi! We recommend placing the Chimney Starter somewhere safe once you’ve poured the coals into the grill, you don’t want pets or guests bumping into it while it’s still hot. First, you’ll need to take out the cooking grate from your grill. Then, fill your Chimney Starter all the way to the top with charcoal (you can use less if you aren’t cooking as much food). Set the lighter cubes on the charcoal grate and light them. We appreciate your interest and we're here to answer any other questions you may have. Thank you!

Works well and gets the charcoal started, can take a little more time depending on the amount of charcoal put into it, but is much better than just trying to light a fire on the grill bars.

Bought this recently and underestimated how well it would work compared to previous chimney starters. Got the coals going with a lighter cube. Went inside to prep my food. I’m used to it taking several minutes for a full chimney to be ready and I don’t know what I did differently this time but when I came back out the charcoal was so hot it had melted the rubber on the handle. Keep an eye on this thing and don’t turn your back on it

I use this chimney starter three times week all year. The old ones lasted three years, but the new one is stronger. It might last even longer. I suggest getting one.

Lightweight charcoal starter makes grilling a breeze. Simply add charcoal, light newspaper, and wait for ashed coals. No more messy starter fluid or electric starters needed. Wish I had discovered this sooner!

I'm late coming to this method starting a fire. Lighting charcoal was always an arduous and sometimes frustrating process. Using the Weber Rapid Chimney Starter changed everything.. Following the direction I was amazed how things went so smoothly. Starting the charcoal fire now is as simple as 1, 2, 3.

I like the size of this chimney and the cone shape in the bottom helps get all the briquettes lit evenly. My only complaint is the handle gets hot to the point where I needed gloves to hold it. If it had a wooden handle or other heat resistant material it would be perfect.

For charcoal users, you can’t make a fire that’s cleaner (no starter fluids) or faster (airflow physics). All the coals are ready to go at once, after about 10 minutes.

Highly recommend this chimney fire starter. Very easy to use and works great. It's much better with briquettes than lump charcoal because the lump pieces could be small and fall out the bottom.

Works great - get a brick/paver underneath it. I have a slate patio and this got hot enough to make one tile flake away. 100% user error, but get one of those 12"X12" pavers to put underneath it.
