Love it so far. With its long warranty, I have the confidence to trust this drive with my data. I purchased two and have them in a Sabrent JOB enclosure connected via USB 3.2. As long as it works and delivers the rated speeds in the years to come, what's not to like? I gave it 5 stars, although if I wanted to quibble, I'd probably take away 1 star for the unusual noises it makes during operation. It's not particularly loud, however, so it doesn't bother me much.

This drive was not compatible for the PC I had to use it as a backup drive. I purchased a kit to covert it to an external drive but still is not recognized by my system and it doesn’t fit properly with the kit. Regretting purchasing this drive

Hello, We're sorry to hear your user experience with the WD Gold Hard disk drive and appreciate your time for providing this review. Based on your concern, if the drive is behaving abnormal on the computer then it could be due to insufficient power supply to the drive for operation. To isolate the cause of the drive failure, it is recommended to connect the drive as secondary storage via SATA port to the computer and check the drive for any damage or defect by following the information provided in the link below. "How to check an internal drive for defects, problems, corruption, or a power issue": https://support-en.wd.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/15514 We recommend connecting the drive as secondary storage via SATA port to the computer, to test the health of the drive using Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows. "Testing a drive for problems using Data Lifeguard Diagnostics for Windows": https://support-en.wd.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/6226 "Western Digital Hard Drive Noise" https://support-en.wd.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/32906/kw/noise If the test is unfortunately inconclusive and you just purchased the drive then you should be able to return it to the place of purchase. However, if you are past their return policy, you can create an RMA through WD and replace the drive under warranty if necessary. "How to Get an RMA to Replace a Defective Product, Obtain a Power Supply, or USB Cable for a WD Product": https://support-en.wd.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/10336 All our products must pass our stringent quality standards before leaving our factory to be free from defects in materials and craftsmanship. Great all-round drive

We run many of these in our servers so I figured that it was probably good enough for my home NAS. The WD Red Pro drives have a great reputation so the Golds are probably overkill, but so far they've been running great - fast read/write times and noticeably faster than the "plain" reds.

I've only had them running for a week or so now. Full drive write and re-read found no bad sectors. Maintains advertised speed for at least several hours before dropping down to around 160MB/s. Full load for over a day have mine running around 39 degrees Celsius. Relatively quiet for read/write.
