From the Back Cover

How will she choose, knowing all she must sacrifice?

Libby has been given a powerful gift: to live one life in 1774 Colonial Williamsburg and the other in 1914 Gilded Age New York City. When she falls asleep in one life, she wakes up in the other. While she's the same person at her core in both times, she's leading two vastly different lives.

In Colonial Williamsburg, Libby is a public printer for the House of Burgesses and the Royal Governor, trying to provide for her family and support the Patriot cause. The man she loves, Henry Montgomery, has his own secrets. As the revolution draws near, both their lives--and any hope of love--are put in jeopardy.

Libby's life in 1914 New York is filled with wealth, drawing room conversations, and bachelors. But the only work she cares about--women's suffrage--is discouraged, and her mother is intent on marrying her off to an English marquess. The growing talk of war in Europe only complicates matters.

But Libby knows she's not destined to live two lives forever. On her twenty-first birthday, she must choose one path and forfeit the other--but how can she choose when she has so much to lose in each life?

Libby lives in 1774 Colonial Williamsburg, right at the beginning of The Revolution. She also lives in 1914 New York City. She is a time traveler. Every night while Libby sleeps, she lives her other life. The day she turns twenty-one, Libby must pick one and stay there. Life in Williamsburg is not easy. It is a constant struggle for the family to support themselves with the money that comes from their printing business. But Libby has always planned on choosing that period for her permanent life. In that time, her mother loves her, and she has two adorable little sisters. Plus, the love of her life, Henry, is there. Libby's other life is one of privilege, and living in 1914, she enjoys some modern conveniences. But in that time, her mother has always been as cold as ice to her. Libby's only use to that mother is to advance her social standing. To that end, Libby has been constantly paraded in front of New York society, especially the eligible bachelors. Now her mother has set her sights on having a son-in-law with a title, so she has forced Libby to go to London. Will Libby be able to stay in Williamsburg permanently? Does Libby's family lose their source of income because they print things supporting The Revolution? Will Libby break the rules and cause history to change? If she did that, what consequences will she face? Must Henry become just a memory of her great love lost? I loved the ending of this story, it was completely unexpected, and also left room for another installment in this series. This five-star book will be enjoyed by fans of time travel, historical tales or well-written yarns--all with a Christian point-of-view. Bethany House has provided Tickmenot with a complimentary copy of, When the Day Comes, for the purpose of review.

WOW!! What a unique and creative premise for a story. I'm still trying to process the entirety of this book, but I'll try to do it justice. Libby Conant is a time-crosser, she lives in two different time periods simultaneously, 1774 and 1914. When she falls asleep at the end of the day in one time period, she wakes to the same day in the other. Libby's mother, along with her grandmother, were time-crossers as well, so she's had a wealth of knowledge on how to handle this realty she lives in. Libby has until her 21st birthday to decide which path she will choose to live in, and although she's been adamant she knows which one she will choose, life circumstances arise that she wasn't expecting. I was not entirely sure what to think when I started this story, but I was intrigued by the storyline. And page by page, Ms. Meyer drew me in deeper and deeper, until I closed the back cover and smiling, breathed a sigh of contentment. I loved everything about it. The main characters were so relatable and multilayered that I was transfixed. The supporting characters were just as enjoyable and loveable. The settings in both time periods are well written and descriptive. And the spiritual thread is palpable! I LOVED it! All the way through the Author's Note is a common thread that God is sovereign and His plans are beyond our own. There's a twist at the end that I'd hoped could be possible, but didn't really think would happen. SO incredibly pleased with how this story ends and cannot wait for Book 2 in the Timeless series!! I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.

"Do not let anything turn your heart to stone. Do not let anger or bitterness take root in you. If you do, all of this was for naught. Instead use what you've learned from me and from this life to do good and further God's kingdom in the time you occupy." Wow, what an incredibly insightful, richly rewarding, and unique book! I have read Gabrielle Meyer's novellas in different collections over the years and enjoyed her writing but this is the first full-length novel I have read from the author and now I'm a devoted follower. I'm a fan of time-travel books and am loving the recent surge of interest in this subgenre by Christian authors and readers alike. The premise of the book is unique and drew me in from the start - a young woman on the cusp of her 20th birthday who lives in two separate timelines but must choose which timeline to remain when she turns 21. Caught between 1774 at the start of the Revolutionary War and 1914 at the start of WWI, Libby shows amazing resilience, strength, compassion, and faith as she speaks to us in her first person voice. You will cry with her hurts and sacrifices, delight in her triumphs, and rejoice as she finds God's faithfulness and grace in unlikely places. Being immersed in 1774 Williamsburg, VA and 1914 Whitby, England was a lovely trip in history and culture. There were plenty of plot twists and surprises to keep the storyline moving at a good pace. This book has it all - a worthy heroine, a fantastic plot, and a wonderful faith thread. It deliciously combines multiple genres - history, fiction, romance, and speculative - to give us one of the best books I've read so far in 2022. I received the book from the publisher via JustRead Publicity Tours and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are my own.

Exceptional story by author Gabrielle Meyer! I've read historical fiction, dual timeline stories, and stories that involve time travel, and When the Day Comes has the most unique and compelling take on all three and I loved every minute of it. Even when had no idea how it would end, or when I didn't think it could possibly end well. "I knew these things because I lived two lives simultaneously-one in 1774 and one in 1914. When I fell asleep in one path, I woke up in the other, back and forth, with no time passing in either one while I was away. It has been this way since the day I was born. But all of that would change on my twenty-first birthday when I was given the choice to forfeit one path and stay in the other forever. I already knew which one I would choose." "In 1774, my name was Elizabeth Conant, but my mama had called me Libby from birth. In 1914, I was Anna Elizabeth Wells and had been called Anna until I was almost five, when I asked to be called Libby." "We are about to embark on a war for independence, and that will include the freedom of thought, opinion, and belief." "My surroundings were lovely, but I was not free to fly beyond it's confines. I was expected to be beautiful and to perform for the world to see, but I was not allowed to soar as I was meant to soar." "It seemed that no matter where I lived, war was not far away." "Freedom isn't free, Libby. The price is far greater than anyone realizes." "We must take whatever joy can be found from each day and not borrow tomorrow's sorrow." "God is concerned with the state of your heart more than where you live or what time you occupy. He wants to know that He has your heart, Libby. All of it. He wants to know that you trust Him no matter what happens." I could not stop turning pages! Author Gabrielle Meyer's talented pen puts you right there, whether you find yourself 1774 or 1914, she has done her research well and the reader is completely immersed in that time period. I also enjoyed the spiritual truths along the journey. If you're looking for a unique twist on fantastic historical fiction, look no further that When The Day Comes. I can hardly wait for the next story in this series! My sincere thanks to the author, publisher, and Net Galley for allowing me to read an early copy. All opinions are my own.

A captivating dual timeline novel

When the Day Comes by Gabrielle Meyer is the first Timeless Book. I thought this historical novel was creative and well-written. It contained realistic characters and situations. Libby lives two different lives: one in 1774 and one in 1914. In one she is the managing editor of her deceased father’s newspaper. Libby and her mother work hard to provide a living for their family and pay off their father’s debt. Libby is in love with Henry Montgomery, but he is about to betrothed to the Royal Governor’s fourteen-year-old daughter. In 1914, her mother is determined to marry her off to a titled Englishman. When Libby turns twenty-one, she will need to decide which life she will live for the rest of her life. The story is told in alternating chapters (back and forth between 1774 and 1914). I can tell the author did her research for both time periods and locations. She captured the grandeur of London Society, the beginning of the Great War, and the fashions (especially the tight-fitting hobble skirt that ladies had trouble walking in). We get to experience Colonial Williamsburg on the brink of the Revolutionary War. I like the time travel concept (unique). When Libby goes to sleep in 1774, she awakens in 1914. She lives both lives simultaneously. I enjoyed reading both time periods with their vivid descriptions. The author managed to strike a balance between too little and too much detail. The faith elements are prominent and beautifully incorporated into the story. We see the importance of faith and relying on God. When the Day Comes is a fascinating and emotional split time novel. I loved the ending and appreciated the epilogue that gives us a hint of who will be featured in the next Timeless Book. When the Day Comes is a captivating tale with patriot printers, a bevy of balls, a merciless mother, a raging war, a sympathetic mum, an approaching revolution, and a critical choice.

We couldn’t change history, but we did know how it played out. Libby Conant, like her mother before her, along with generations before them, had a unique birthmark that set them aside from those around them. They were known as time-crossers — at least among themselves. After all, who would believe that you could fall asleep in one year, wake up in another and not have missed any time? Perhaps the hardest part was the fact that you knew some of how history would unfold when you returned to the earlier time but you couldn’t stop those things from happening. The author has done a fabulous job of taking us between 1774 and the beginning of the revolutionary war and 1914 with the beginning of WWI. The well developed characters give us a look into what it must have been like back in 1774 when the colonists were tired of more and more restrictions coming from Britain. One has to wonder which side we would have joined… Learning to take what was given and make the best of it, was a lesson that was hard to learn. This ARC of the first Timeless book was received through Baker Publishing Group, Bethany House Publishers and NetGalley. These thoughts and impressions are my own and were in no way solicited.

Love love and love this story!! What a beautiful reminder that God has an amazing plan for each and every one of us, no matter how bad things may seem at times. Each and every moment is precious and has a specific purpose, even when we can't see it yet. I received a copy from the publisher, all thoughts are my own.
