This is an excellent book. I enjoyed it as an adult, and my kids love it as well. It is written in a simple enough style that my kindergartener stays engaged when I read it aloud. The author weaves in fairytales from China into one story, with a great ending and encouraging message. Nothing overly traumatic happens, the story moves quickly, and the characters come alive. I had checked this out from the library, but quickly ordered it in a hardcover version from Target (5% off w redcard and free shipping!) - it's a book to keep! I'm planning to read the next two books soon.
