how to measure

finding your shoe size takes just 3 steps.

  1. Stand with one bare foot on a piece of paper.
  2. Mark the paper at the back of your heel bone & at the end of your longest toe.
  3. Measure the distance between these two points in a straight line, & repeat the same steps for the other foot.

If one foot is longer, use the larger measurement to find your shoe size by referencing the size chart above. If your measurement is in between sizes & the shoes don’t come in half sizes, please round up to the next size.

Remember, this chart can only approximate your true shoe size. Finding a shoe that fits also depends on brand, style and individual. To find the best fit, we recommend visiting a Target store to try on different shoe sizes & styles.

I wanted to love these... but I don't

I've had these boots for about a year now, and never have I had a less comfortable pair. I simply do not understand all the reviews saying they're the most comfortable boots 😭 I'm so disappointed, because I wanted to love these so much. A year later, and I'm still even trying to make them work for me! I don't know how successful I'll ever end up being... But let me go over the issues I have. I can barely get my foot into these. And I absolutely have the correct size, there's no chance I need to size up. The problem is with the vamp; it's not very high at all. Even with the shoes ALL the way loosened up in the laces, I struggle to get my foot in. My arches are very slightly high, and I do mean slightly, like I'm on the higher side of normal, but not quite fully high arches. That makes my instep maybe the slightest bit higher, but not even that fraction of an amount can be accommodated by this boot. The toe box has developed diagonal creases because of the twisting I need to do to get my foot in. I have to wear my thinnest socks with these, because anything else means I can't get my foot in at all. Speaking of the laces, they were on the short side (so if you have wider calves, these laces will not work for you), but the bigger issues was how much they hurt my fingers. Because I have to loosen them up SO much every time, I also have to tighten them quite a bit, and while the roughness and stiffness of them would definitely help hold them tied, my fingers feel the burn. I ended up swapping them out for both softer and longer laces, which at least made the lacing experience tolerable. The zipper is stiff and does not want to go up smoothly. It frequently gets a little caught on a part of the inner flap near the top, a problem that kept getting worse over time. Because it's so stiff, I really had to hold and pull. Now if the zipper were just regular smooth metal, that wouldn't be as much of a problem, maybe just a bit annoying. But it's not just smooth metal. It's covered in a textured plastic (or maybe hard rubber?) that makes my fingers hurt too. All this just to get the dang things on! If that were all, I'd actually be all right with that. Not happy about it, but acceptable enough to still net a much higher rating. But there's problems once the boots are on as well. Despite the not so tall vamp, I will say that the pressure along my foot's instep is actually not that bad. The problem I have with that is only in the discomfort and difficulty of getting it on, but once my feet are in proper place, it's fine. Maybe a bit more pressure than some other shoes/boots I have, but I've also felt far worse, and it's more than tolerable. (Maybe that would be different with some thicker socks, but alas, I can't even come close to testing that.) This is, unfortunately, about the only positive I have to say here. The tongues are gusseted, which is pretty normal for this kind of boot of course. But that gusset is quite thick. And it sits RIGHT on my ankle bone, crushing into it... hard. Listen, I even got the wide width hoping for a tiny bit of extra breathing room, and I do get that in the toe box area making that all comfy, but NOT in the ankle, so that gusset is quite painful. I can futz around with the tongues though to get them moved off juuuuust enough to not give me pain. But I sure do wish I didn't have to do that every single time! Still, at least I can adjust here. What I can't adjust is the counter (the part on the back of the heel, sometimes called "foxing"). This causes quite a bit of pain to my heel area. It's so stiff, and presses into my heel in all the wrong ways. I keep trying to wear these, hoping that part will soften out just enough to not suck, but so far, no luck. I can only wear them for a few hours before it becomes too much, and forget about wearing these two days in a row for anything. That's why my process of trying to break them in has taken so long - I just can't wear them regularly due to the pain. I tried putting a heel cushion right at the top of the counter, but because there's almost ZERO wiggle room in getting my foot in, 3/4 of the time, I'm ripping the cushion out as my heel slides down into the boot. I haven't been able to test if these will fix the pain problem, because it's so annoying to try to keep the cushions in place while getting my foot in. Perhaps I'll try a thinner cushion, I don't know. Maybe this wouldn't even be an issue if I could wear socks thick enough to be the cushion themselves 🥹 I don't know whose feet these boots are made for, but sadly, it's not mine. They get two stars rather than one because they look great, and I think they would be durable if I could actually wear them with regularity. Such a shame that I can't 😞

These are my 2nd pair I've bought. 1st pair lasted a little over a decade. Awesome, Awesome boots. Having served in the Marine Corps and having worked in Public Service for over a decade, I've worn several different brands. Rocky Jump Boots are by far the best. Long lasting, takes a shine like a champ, and one of the most important aspects, they break in quickly without killing your feet and heels. 10 out of 10!

I bought a pair of these boots for work and they have lasted for TWELVE YEARS. The leather on the toe finally tore after I retired these from work and used them as my mow-the-lawn footwear. The soles are barely worn and they were waterproof all these years. My current job makes me wear other brand named boots and they are all sub-par compared to Rocky!

I have worn this type of work boot for 14 years and every time I have purchased them I wear them for about 2-3 years before buying another pair. They might be hard to break in but once they are they are soo comfortable. My job requires a lot of walking and I’m in all the different weather that we have. I love that the boot is waterproof in the rain so my socks don’t get wet. So yeah these boots are my #1!!!

    Nice boot, poor customer service

I wish I could give a better review concerning the boot itself, but 3 weeks after my purchase, I still haven't gotten to actually wear them. I will say they appear to be a great boot, and they came with a nice shine on them. I ordered a pair of Size 5 boots on 7/29. They arrived a few days later, and unfortunately, were too small. That's not the company's fault, it's just difficult finding the right size online. I went to the website and saw there was an option to exchange rather than just return, so I called. I was emailed a shipping label, and at the end of the conversation told that the return would need to be completely processed before the new boots would be shipped, which would likely take about 2 weeks. In other words, it would have been faster for me to just return the boots and buy a new pair. Nevertheless, I shipped the boots out via FedEx on 8/4. Since then, I have heard nothing from the company. I checked my account and my original pair of boots are still showing as "shipped" to me, there is no record of them being delivered or my returning them. I contacted the company and have not heard back from them. I purchased these boots for work and because of the slow service have not gotten to actually use them yet, which is very frustrating because my old pair are way overdue to be replaced. The company I used to purchase boots from no longer sells my size so it was suggested to me that I try Rocky. Very unhappy with the whole experience and it's unlikely I will ever purchase from them again.

Well made, little heavier than Danner boots. Fits true to size. The break in period is the down fall. They are very stiff and after two shifts, I have blisters. I’m hoping they get better...

I've been addicted to Rocky's since my first pair. They take a bit to wear in, but are as comfortable as slippers once they're broken in. You can always shine them up so my old ones lasted about 4 years!

This is not my first pair of Rocky's. I have never had an issue with previous pairs until now. Unfortunately this pair is giving me some difficulties with breaking in the leather. These boots have done a number on my achilles area and have been very frustrating to soften and break-in. The rest of the boot is fine and I have no issue with.

This boot was iffy for me to buy. I had been in the market for a new boot after having Bates and Haix. Both were great boots but I wanted something different. I purchased these and when they came they looked fantastic and amazing. Crisp and fresh leather with good craftsmanship. Only downfall is the short laces they issue the boot and the ability of breaking them in is the tough part because it does hurt if you don’t do it in increments and some leather softener. Otherwise the boot fits pristine, right as first because it’s unworn leather. I’m happy with this purchase and love my new boots.

I bought these a month ago. I work 80 hours a weekday and EMT and Firefighter. They still are tough and will not break in. I often and putting them off and on between calls. Every time I put my foot in the boot, it pulls my sock super tight over my toes. They are difficult to put on in comparison to my 5.11 boots. It was worth a try but these are not for me.

Bought about a month ago. Came on time even though there was a blizzard in the area! Used the water technique to break in and they are almost perfectly comfy. A little hard to put on even with zipper. I wish there was a size chart on the site cause I have giant toe bones so I usually have to go large but the toe is big enough so I could have gone a half size down. Other than those minor issues, I'm well pleased with my boots!
