Description
The Worx MakerX Wood & Metal Crafter heats up to the temps of larger, full-size pyrography and metal-working tools, but its skinny design means you can hold it like a pen and do finer work. Ideal for marking wooden signs on site, embellishing leather goods, branding wooden boxes, making bracelets out of old glass or stones, customizing leather belts, jewelry making and metal crafting, pyrography, and wood-burning projects of all kinds. Plus, it excels at specialized work like repairing and splicing broken car wires or cutting and sealing synthetic rope. 12 accessories are included: 10 interchangeable tips, a Silicon comfort sleeve, and a cradle to hold it while it’s hot to keep the tip away from delicate surfaces.
MakerX has created crafting and hobby tools that are smaller, but more powerful—the secret lies in the Hub. It’s a power source that you can take with your tool, so if you want to work in the middle of a large space, you can, and still have the power to get the job done. Thoughtful design allowed Worx engineers to make these tools slimmer, so you can hold them with more precision, and provide a level of detail to your projects that’s not possible with other tools.
This model doesn’t come with the MakerX Hub or a 20V Power Share battery, but that’s by design. Because if you already have a Hub and a battery, there’s no need to buy it again. It’s a great way to save money as you build up your MakerX tool collection.

Perfect soldering tool!

Bought this recently, with two cable repair jobs to take care of. There is nothing like having a temp-controlled tip, particularly if you have to work on small components on printed circuits. The iron is great for that purpose, and having the WORX battery power makes things very portable. Same is true for the rotary tool. Highly flexible, works with my existing inventory of bits.

From removing furniture appliques to branding finished wood furniture upcycles to soldering tiaras, this is by far the best tool of its kind.

It’s so nice to be able to sit outside with my MakerX system with the woodburner and not have to have a long extension cord! Great battery life, too!

So far I have been happy with it. Works great heats up quickly and has a lot of tip options. Considering that this is a craft tool, I would love to see an add-on for a foam cutting wire. They already have the knife collet with a tightening sleeve. A slightly different collet, similar to a rotary tool, would allow for a steel wire to be inserted and locked in place. And allow for varying shapes of wire tools. It definitely has the temperature range to be useful for a wide range of foam cutting and shaping. This is the main reason I am writing this review so that maybe someone sees the suggestion.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Now first if I must mention that this item did not come with a battery. You have to buy it separately. Also there’s the instructions. It never does clearly say what each little part is for. It comes with a lot of different ends, which is great. Who doesn’t like options? It’s just that I would like to be able to see what the little pieces do or what they’re called. You can go to their website and see the parts and what they’re for. 1) - Wood/Metal Crafter (8) - Assorted Woodburning Tips (1) - Assorted Soldering Tips (1) - Cradle Stand (1) - Silicon Comfort Sleeve Here is the link from their website for this specific item. https://www.worx.com/20v-makerx-wood-and-metal-crafter-wx744l-tool-only.html I like it. I would recommend it to any crafter out there. New or experienced. There’s also an accessory kit you can buy to use with this tool. I ordered mine yesterday.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] 1. It is plug and play and easy to setup. 2. It comes with tons of tip options to chose from. 3. The tips that come with it is all what one would need to do their projects. 4. The temperature can be precisely and digitally controlled using a simple and intuitive interface. 5. The unit heats up pretty quickly and gets ready for the project in seconds. This particular tool didn’t come with any power source so that has to be purchased separately. I wished it had come with an AC 110 volt power adapter.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am new to crafting and thought I’d try this tool. The 20V Makerx Wood & Metal Crafter is very easy to use. I have only used it for wood projects so far. It is easy to hold when working on projects, the interchangeable tips are easily put on and taken off, it heats up very quickly and has a digital temperature display. Looking forward to trying this item on on many more projects!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love doing crafts at home and wanted to try wood burning. Picked up this tool and am very happy with it. It’s small but mighty. I can make my own signs or enhance store bought ones. The tool heats up quickly. It fits nicely in my hand which gives a bit more precise control. The tips are easy to change. The online manual explains the changing and use of the various tips. Overall I’m happy with this product.
Rotary tool fantastic, wood burner not impressed

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wood burner I've only used once, not impressed at all. Heats quickly but didn't burn as well as some of the less costly ones in had. I'm not ready to give up on it yet though, will try other woods, could have been the wood I was using. Size wise, both tools feel good, not to big or heavy in my hands, love the hub, being able to take anyplace I want is very pleasing. I also bought the rapid charger, much better than waiting for hours to charge and my Worx power share drills battery interchanges. Only improvement I would suggest is a second battery I the combo kit.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the rotary and iron set for small project craft hobby. I like the idea that I can carry it around while having good supply of power. I bought the iron for basically soldering purpose while it came with some pyrography tips so I tried a couple out and have my very first wood burning piece done, it was fun and would continue practice on this new hoppy.

I purchased 2 of these along with the air brush attachment for gifts. I also want one for myself and am so upset that I didn’t purchase one for myself! This is the best tool you will ever have! It comes with so many different attachments and the carry case that hold the little pieces and the sturdy black bag that holds everything! I’m so impressed with this brushless motor Worx! You can craft and diy and do yard work until your heart’s content! Just”wow!” Thank you Worx for this fantastic tool!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I haven't used this on wood, but it's an awesome soldering iron. Knowing that I can set the temperature is the best feature. Soldering is best around 650 degrees. I've always had to guess on the others I had, because it didn't have any temperature settings, just on and off. Also the portability of this makes it awesome for the projects I'm working on. Love it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love this set of tools and how portable and versatile it is! I love that I can share batteries with these tools and my drill too. The rotary tool is very comfortable and comes with plenty of tips. The solder/wood tool heats up quickly and works like a dream.
