Q: does this material shed? is it brittle? thanks
A: A beautiful thick rug! Not brittle, doesn't shed. Way worth the price! Best rug I have ever purchased!
submitted byVerna - 7 years agoA: Before I answer your question, I will say this is a great rug. A stager recommended this rug to me because it goes with so many decors. It is durable, and it doesn't stain from spills. My 8 month old son has pulled out a few weave bundles, and it is noticeable, but the rug still looks good. He crawls on this rug, and it makes his knees red. This was an excellent purchase, and like I said, a professional stager loves to recommend this rug to her clients (like me) because it complements a room at a reasonable price.
submitted byKathleen R - 7 years agoA: Hi gab - That's a great question! This area rug's jute material should not shed after it's initial use. The weave is strong and comfortable to stand on and not at all brittle. We hope you love it. Thanks! - Matt

It lays in front of our rear sliding door and gets stepped on a daily basis by our family and dog. We vacuum it regularly, but besides that, it maintains itself and doesn't shed. If a friend's dog hadnt shredded it while we were gone, we would still be using it. I just came back to Target's website to buy the exact same one.

Q: Is this material scratchy? Like a potato sack feeling? Thanks.
A: Hi Nicole J - Great question! This strong yet soft rug is made of Jute material which is used to make burlap. We suggest reading the reviews for more feedback from our other guests. Thanks for stopping by! - Andrea
submitted byAndrea - 8 years agoTarget staff supportA: It's not scratchy, really. It has more of a thick, woven feel. I would agree that it is comfortable under bare feet.

Q: How is this rug to vacuum
A: Do not vacuum the rug! We had it for 2 months and went to vacuum it and it pulled up the "woven" jute literally in two inch pulls. Horrible construction - getting ready to throw them out. If you want a rug that is easy to keep clean, I would not suggest this one. You would have to shake out the rug and only spot clean. However, do note that if something sits for too long it will stain and get in-between the fibers and you can't get it out.
submitted byMichele - 5 years agoA: Hi Sarah - We're glad you asked! To clean the rug we recommend to spot, or wipe clean. Check out the "guest reviews" You may find other guests' thoughts, and opinions helpful. Happy shopping! - Julie

Q: I want to use this in my foyer at the lakehouse. Often people have wet shoes. would I need to immediately spot clean/dry off or can a bit of water puddle on it?
A: Hello Bethesda - We appreciate your interest in this Runner. We would not recommend this rug for an entry space that is often wet. This is just a natural fiber and is prone to mold and may start to break down if it gets too wet. I hope this helps! - Cynthia.

Q: Is there a way I can pull the weaving back through the rug? I have had the rug for very short time, and it's unraveling in spots. We aren't rough on it, not in big traffic area, and we don't have pets
A: Hello Catkasper - Thank you for reaching out. For this rug, you can trim it with scissors or tuck in the loose ends. You can also try gluing back into place. This rug is of natural fiber and is handmade, so sometimes can be prone to unravel. It’s the natural aspect of the rug and it’s handmade construction, that this can happen. We hope this helps! - Elsa
