Yamaha R-N1000A Network Stereo Receiver (Black)

My setup is of a large TV, paired floor standing speakers and subwoofer in a spacious living room, used for movie watching and music listening, including vinyl and streaming. I needed an AV receiver that balances my audiophile needs with the family's movie needs. This unit replaced my ageing, dependable but very heavy RX-V2092 which I thought was serving me well, but wow! I never thought the R-N1000A could improve my listening experience as much as it has. Very impressive. The living room has an uneven layout, so getting things to sound just right has been a struggle over the years, but this time I was happy after just ten minutes. This unit makes the most of my equipment and everything sounds better than I could have ever imagined, without need of manual EQ and careful tweaking. The best aspect of this unit for me is the YPAO feature which was so quick and easy to set up. I'll be repeating YPAO calibration each time the furniture gets rearranged. For my circumstances this is far superior to pass-thru sound with manual EQ. Networking and streaming works well but getting it to connect to the WiFi was not intuitive and took a couple of attempts, but once set and done it has been fine. The build and user interface, all the components etc seem to be of good quality. I chose the silver fascia and it really brings back fond memories of my Kenwood HiFi days. And now the unit just looks, works and sounds great. Bravo!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I did a lot of research prior to purchasing and though enough price point competition; no one came remotely close to the features, power, construction and above all - that awesome Yamaha sound (entered the Yamaha world a while back with an Aventage AVR). Having both YPAO, tone controls and loudness control; sound flexibility is limitless. However you can never go wrong with Pure Direct which is how I listen mostly. I have to mention the outstanding customer support; I sent numerous emails with questions about this receiver and every time, got a quick and detailed response that helped enormously in my decision. You will never regret this purchase.

I bought this to replace my 5 year old Yamaha A-S801. I wanted the additional connectivity the R-N1000a offers. I was not expecting a dramatic improvement in sound quality, however that is what I got. I have it connected to my Apple TV, and my Sony television, I just use one remote to turn everything on and off. it is wonderful.
