Q: Can you stack the shelves for a taller shelf?
A: if the current top shelf when set vertically is 15 pounds but 50 when set horizpontally then NO! YOU CANT STACK IT VERTICALLY. THIS IS A MISPRINT BY TARGET

submitted byClosetMaid - 6 years agoBrand expertA: It doesn't make any sense that this unit can be stacked vertically, which would make it over 70 inches tall, but not horizontally, which would be a much more stable se-up.

submitted byJenny - 8 years agoTarget staff supportA: I bought the 8 cube in espresso a few months ago. Now I’m looking to purchase this 3 cube. The colors are white or dark brown. Is the dark brown another word for espresso with this company will it be an almost black color rather than brown. It’s the only 3 cube that shows to be like the one I have and I like to stay with the same Brad for uniformity.

Q: Does the middle hole have to be the hole with no back or can you chose which slot has the open back?
A: Hello akos14 - Thanks for checking on this 3-cube organizer. It comes with the backing already attached, so you'd be unable to alter that. It can be used vertically or horizontally, which is a nice option. Hope it works for you. - Andrew

The back panels are NOT attatched, the box comes with 24 finishing nails to attach the back panels in any of the cubes or not at all. It comes with 2 back panels so you will have one cube without one.

Q: How much assembly is required? Will I need any tools (screwdriver, etc, etc.)? I'm a college student and I have limited access to tools and equipment.
A: Actually, when I bought this item, I needed a hammer to nail the back cardboard panels in place. I think I also needed a screw driver. Unless this cube-shelf kit has changed and now comes with tools, I would look into a basic hammer and a phillips screwdriver. Good luck!

submitted byClosetMaid - 6 years agoBrand expertA: I purchased the espresso unit ro coordinate with two other Room Essentials 3 cube organizers I have. The new color has a gray/black brown undertone where as the old espresso is a warm brown black. It is slightly noticeable. Maybe the dark brown is different. But when I purchased the cube storage from the store espresso was the only option. I hope this helps.

Q: I feel it isn't placed vertically how much weight can the top shelf hold?
A: According to the instructions that came with the 3 cube organizing unit each shelf holds up to 15 lbs.

submitted byClosetMaid - 6 years agoBrand expertA: Honestly I suppose it could be hung but it isn't made to hang so no predrilled holes, no hardware etc... It's a heavy object as far as hanging goes so lots of support, mounted to studs etc... wall anchors simply wouldn't do the job. It would be more trouble than it's worth IMO.

Q: I want to use this in my office. Will a binder fit in the cube?

submitted byTarget - 8 years agoTarget staff supportA: Hello. The inside dimensions of 1 Cube: 11.25 in.H x 11.25 in. W x 11.75 in. D, so you should have no problem fitting a regular sized binder in the shelves. Thank you for your inquiry.
submitted byClosetMaid - 6 years agoBrand expertA: Standard binders are usually more than 11 inches long, so they wouldn't fit in these cubbies standing up - you would have to store them laying down or sideways, with the spine on the bottom or the top, which would be difficult to keep in place when you remove one binder. I think you should get a unit with 13 inch cubes for storing binders.

Q: Can 2 units be stacked on top of each other?
A: We did stack them, manufacturer included pegs and predrilled holes for stacking. I assume that meant it was ok to do that. Looks great next to my shower for extra items needed and even a standing picture.
