I used to LOVE this mascara and have used it over 20 years and they recently changed the formula and now It won’t wash off and irritates my eyes. Why change an amazing product and fix what’s not broken!?! 😢

The formula change is awful. As other reviews noted, I first thought I had purchased a faulty tube as I’ve used this product for years with amazing consistency. Nope. New formula comes out of the tube gloopy, leaves clumps on lashes, doesn’t wash off easily with regular make up remover, a total disappointment!

This new 15x formula is horrible. Please bring back the 5x or 7x Original voluminous mascara. When I first learned those were discontinued I went everywhere and bought up all the old formuIa mascara I could find. Alas, I have used them up no si I have tried a few other L'Oreal mascaras and none of them comes close to what I used for many, many years. I agree with the other reviewers that this is not the same mascara, only "improved." I am tired of throwing away money on trying to find a mascara that works for me.

I remembered this mascara was great, so I picked it up again after a few years. I wish I hadn't! It burns my eyes and made my vision fuzzy.

I’ve been getting this mascara for years and they changed the formula. The new one is essentially waterproof, not washable. Super disappointed. Feel a little tricked. They already have a waterproof mascara, why make the washable one also waterproof? When I try and wash this stuff off it’s nearly impossible. Always have makeup leftover on my eyes, even when I’ve done a couple of washes.

The “New look” with the gold band around the top is awful. Go back to the original formula. The new one does not work the same & I’ve used the original one fir at least 20 years

I have used the L’Oréal washable mascara for, at least, 20 years. I got asked what brand mascara I used. I have long lashes and the original worked well. However, the formula has changed. WHY?? I have bought 2…thinking the first one was a fluke. No, it wasn’t! It is very thick and comes out of the tube very clumpy! It is nothing like the original formula! It doesn’t come off easily with makeup remover…I actually thought I had bought the waterproof, but no! My eyelashes actually feel not soft, but stiff! I’m going to have to find a new mascara, I won’t continue to use this. I’m loyal to a brand, but not L’Oréal anymore!!

I have used the L’Oréal original wash off mascara for, at least, 20 years. I bought the new one, and it is NOT the same as the original. It comes out of the tube in big clumps and seems dry. It does not go on like the original. It doesn’t come off at night with makeup remover as the original did. There is still mascara there and my lashes feel stiff even after removing it, or trying to! I have long lashes and have always loved L’Oréal, I’ve bought 2 tubes of the new formula it thinking the first was just a fluke, but no. I do NOT like it at all.

As many previous reviewers have stated: 1. I have used this mascara for over 15 years. I’m not sure if the formula changed when the packaging changed, however, I will be throwing away the Package of three that I purchased, and trying to find a “Washable“; Non-flaking; Non-clumping mascara. The mascara does not come off with water, and even with eye makeup remover it is difficult to remove. The new mascara clumps and breaks off, I have actually lost some eyelash length. Why the formula needed to be altered, is beyond me. Unfortunately, after 15+ years, I will be researching and purchasing a new brand of mascara.

Dislike: the color. It doesn’t appear on the lashes green at all. It looks like a normal, black mascara. I tried looking at my lashes in direct sunlight and various lights around my house and it never even shimmered slightly green. It just looks black on your lashes. I’m happy it’s not some neon green, but I was hoping it was more like the simulated image on the packaging (which I didn’t notice it specified “shade simulated” on the photo until I had the product). Likes: It coats well and washes off easily. It does not seem to flake when wearing. At least I can wear it like normal, black mascara so it isn’t a waste.

I bought this mascara in the two above colors. I do wish they were waterproof. One photo is nighttime lighting and one is daytime lighting. COBALT: wow! I loved this shade. It's sooo intense in the tube but not as much on my dark lashes. However, I loved how it brightened up my eyes. A colleague said it looked like I'd had 2 cups of espresso. Definitely will wear often. PURPLE: well, this is lovely in the tube. On my dark lashes, it just looks muddy and brown. I would not wear again.

I have used the Carbon Black mascara for YEARS - I bought a new one a few weeks ago and could not figure out if I bought the waterproof or what the deal was - it was clumpy and flaked off (but didn't wash off with soap and water). My eyes got extremely irritated and swollen, so I think I'm allergic to whatever changed :( ugh

Please bring back the original Voluminous mascara. This is not easily washable. The mascara with the gold band says “original”, but it is far from the original. The true original does not have the gold band, and I’m unable to find it in stores.

I have used this mascara faithfully for 20 years but can't anymore. My daughters used it, I recommended it to all my friends when they thought I was using a lash enhancing product. I have bought several tubes lately thinking I got a "bad batch". My eyelashes fall out and my eyes are so sensitive to the new formula. My daughters have noticed the same thing. I am so sad because it was the one cosmetic I could count on. I can't keep wasting money hoping a tube will be the old formula.

I have used this mascara since 7th grade, so over 35 years. I didn't realize they changed the formula in the last year and have had terrible allergic reactions to it. It also always feel "old" when I apply it. Bring back the old formula, please!

As a mascara, the volume formula isn’t that bad. I like this type of wand too! Sadly, the burgundy color does not show up on dark hair/olive skin. You couldn’t see the difference in color until i washed my face and it looked like i was crying blood (lol). Truly wished this showed up on brunettes the way the marketing shows.
