A: There is a switch on the back of the scale that you press to toggle between lbs & kgs. It is to the right of the battery compartment near the middle.

Q: How in the heck do I get the battery case open?! I see a little screw but nothing is working to take that out!

submitted bypatti - 8 years agoA: No, it's no illuminated. I can't recommend this scale either way, though. I'm actually looking for a new one to order. It's very inaccurate. I got weighed at the doctor's office, came home and weighed myself, and it was a 5 lb difference. I've also noticed that my weight is different depending on where I have the scale sitting, even if I weigh myself back to back. It has been up to a 6 lb difference! Not at all worth the money!

A: Thanks for your interest in the Taylor scale! All four feet must be flat on a hard surface during use. If the scale is moved or picked, it must re-calibrated. This can be done easily by pressing on the scale to turn on, allowing it to zero and then turn off. The scale is now re-calibrated. Accurate!
I went to the doctor's office this morning, their fancy scale said I weighed 145.6 pounds. My super old home scale was 10 pounds off (boo); so I immediatley went to the store and found this Gray/Silver Taylor scale. When I got home, I tried it out, and this new scale said I weighed 144.4 pounds. I tried it a few different times, and kept getting the same reading. So, about one pound off from the doc. Pretty good if you ask me!

User Error Reviews - lack of problem solving skills
A lot of of these reviews are simple user error or don't know how to problem solve. I've had this in the past and trust me. It's not the best only because of its design one of the bottom foots slipped off and I couldn't put the cover back on so this is why I'm now buying a new one to be fair I did drag it from place to place so I'm not surprised. The issue about the weight and consistency is typically fixed by putting 1 foot on the scale, stepping off and waiting until it goes back to zero afterwards you can step on it again and it'll give you an accurate reading. don't be discouraged just make sure the scale always starts at zero and then you test it with a little bit of weight at first and allow it to reset back to 0.
