Q: Can this be used in a gas grill?
A: This thermometer can use this for grills but please note that it should be placed away from direct flames. The heat produced by flare ups may damage the thermometer. Accurate from 100°F to 600°F and 50°C to 300°C

Q: Mechanical thermometers seem to lag a great deal behind the oven's thermometer. The oven says 400, my current thermometer says 325. How does one reconcile this?
A: Thanks for reaching out, here are some helpful hints! Oven thermometers should be placed near the back of the oven away from convection fans for best results. If you are concerned about the reading, try moving the thermometer to different locations around the oven to see if the fluctuations in temperature are consistent. It is normal for ovens to not maintain their calibration and our Taylor oven thermometer is a great way to determine if there is a problem. There are many, many variables at play here. 1. Ovens cannot be recalibrated by the consumer so if the oven is old or the user is setting it to a function like roast, bake, convection etc that will all affect the temperatures. 2. Built-in oven thermometer sensors are typically located in the back of the oven where it won't be affected by opening doors 3. Where is the consumer placing the Taylor oven thermometer? If near the front with a lot of door opening happening during cooking, it will never come to temp. 4. The whole point of using a secondary oven thermometer is to find out IF your oven is having heating issues so that you can resolve them. Typically people buy an oven thermometer because they find foods are over or underbaking frequently. The supplemental piece should be used to "test" the temp in different places to determine the extent of the issue. Once it's confirmed, that perhaps the oven is running 25 degrees too hot then they know to either adjust the temperature down in the settings or reduce the time the food is in the oven. The only person who can really verify if an oven is working correctly is a licensed repair technician. Hope this helps! Please reach out with any additional questions. Thanks!

Q: I have a very old oven, from the 40s and gas based. Is this safe to use in an oven like this or only modern designed ovens?
A: It will work for your oven as long as: --the internal temperature of the oven does not exceed 600 Degrees Fahrenheit --the thermometer is not exposed to direct flame If you need more info, please let us know. Thanks!
