Beautiful, but smells awful

The rug is beautiful. The colors are a little more muted than the photos but it’s still beautiful. It was even delivered 3 days early. My complaint and reason for two stars is that it smells absolutely awful. It reeks of chemicals. We had it in the room for less than 24 hours and had to move it outside to air out. The room that it was in still stinks and we’ve left the windows open for two days. I really hope it airs out but I may have to return it because the smell is so strong and unbearable. It definitely cannot be used as is. I have purchased two other rugs that are this brand but from different retailers and have never had this issue.
