A: I ordered these and there is a visible frame under the woven parts. It could be plastic or fiberglass, not sure.

I bought these to use for our mudroom storage bins. I loved the natural look of the woven basket. When they arrived, some of the weave had sloughed off like a chunk of foam would. Some of the ends of the weave looked unfinished and awkwardly stuck out. These just miss the mark of being great. After reading some reviews about them falling apart over time, I decided to just return them. I went with the braided seagrass crate instead. The weave on that is tighter and seems like a better quality if you’re deciding between the two. I didn’t notice any weird smells with either basket.

Smells really bad. Not a chemical smell or one that gives me headaches but a natural (?) smell. Generally well constructed. Sturdy metal frame. No adhesives visually noticeable (opposed to cheap hyacinth boxes from places like Marshall's). Unfinished. Checks off my criteria for non-toxicity but the smell is strong and unpleasant.

These are a little more streamlined than the other brightroom baskets. They can be delicate- one reviewer said they use them for kids toys. These are not meant for heavy duty use. They are sturdy but shouldn't be scraped back and forth often. I have dvds and cds, some books, odds and ends, things I need to get at not too often. Love them, bought 4 then bought 3 more.

These are great size and hold a decent amount of items. I use these for my daughter play toys. The only thing is they scrape quite easily. When my daughter pulls one out and slides it back in place, the edge will rub along the sides and scrape off some of the crate. Also some toys inside will scrape it. I will find little pieces on the floor or inside the cube itself. So far they’ve held up though. I do keep an eye. If I had the option again, would have probably purchased a slightly different material. I’ve already bought so many of these though to be used in the cube shelves I have.

I wanted to love these. They look beautiful and so pleasing to the eye. However the shedding… I purchased these for less work in my living room (hiding toys etc) but end up vacuuming so much more because of all the fibers breaking off with daily use.
