Anyway, it was just sad! Used an 11x7 dish and followed directions exactly but it took forever to cook , I finally pulled them out at 32minutes but still seemed undone. I like fudgey and not cakey but these were too soft as if not done. Plus they never rose at all! Flat, flat, flat! Hubby and I both say not chocolatey tasting. Even with that syrup it’s not fudgey chocolate tasting like I want from my Betty Crocker brownies! If I can find the original original brownie box I will buy them again but these I will not. And how unfortunate that I bought 2 boxes of this one, Betty Crocker Delights Supreme Original Brownie mix.

I have used this particular brownie flavor/mix since it probably 1st came out (probably 50 years ago). I made a box 1/25/25 and it is with great sadness that I will have to start making scratch brownies. This box was just flat out nasty. No chocolate flavor what so ever. Could not even smell them baking, and I have always been able to smell them baking in the past. I have no issue with changing recipe yield, but you really trashed the flavor on this one.

Second, if you came here looking for what time you should bake your brownies in a 9x13 pan because FOR SOME REASON THEY DECIDED NOT TO LIST THE BAKING TIME FOR THE MOST STANDARD SIZE PAN, start with about 20 minutes, and then just keep an eye on the brownies until you can insert a toothpick and it comes out mostly clean. What a mess of a product. I liked the brownies I made though lol!

No rising, no character. It took forever to get done. This company needs to go back to the planning board.

I've always been a big fan of Betty Crocker mixes, but after this, never again. I grabbed two boxes so that I could make some now, some in the future. The first box I used my typical box mix enhancers- extra egg, milk instead of water, butter instead of oil. It was super flat and had a strange texture, and was harder than I would have liked. I decided to make the second box because I wasn't happy with the first- this time I followed the box exactly, and it tasted like garbage and was hard as a rock and super dry. I ended up just making from scratch and threw out the two boxed brownies. I assume the recipe has changed because I've made this mix in the past with zero issues. I will no longer be buying Betty Crocker mixes.

I’ve never had a problem baking them. I spray a 7x12 glass pan with Pam, and bake for 25 minutes. Perfect every single time. Edges are chewy, center is a little gooey, which is how we like them.

I have used this mix for years... literally, 25+ years, and it had NEVER failed me until recently. I have been making heart-shaped brownies for a really long time (for family, friends, and students), but something awful happened quite recently, and after making a batch for one of my sons. Something has really changed with the recipe. I checked my pans, my oven temperature, the oil I used, etc., and could not figure out what I was doing wrong/differently. Trust me, y'all - it's not us. I just got a text from one of my sons stating, "I had a feeling it was the actual brownie mix! I knew you couldn't mess that up after making them for so long." Switching to Ghiradelli.
