Steel River Lift Top Coffee Table - Sauder

Save yourself from hours of frustration. This is a nightmare to put together. I have both a screwdriver and an electric drill and they are no help when the screw doesn’t fit the part correctly.

Very cheaply made, the screws don’t even screw into the wood properly, and some wouldn’t tighten at all, and then others would just fall out of the wood. It’s a very cheap product and not worth the price being asked.

If I could give it zero stars I would. Horrible to put together. The screws provided are too short to hold the pieces together. The metal screws won’t line up and it’s impossible to get them in straight. Which means those pieces won’t stay together. The lift mechanism doesn’t move easily at all. I got through putting it together and it was wobbly and clearly not going to last. Disassembled it and returned it. Don’t waste your time.

This was the worst thing I think I've ever purchased. We got the table assembled aside from the very last step. We went to flip the top over to attach it, after having attached the springs to the table top and the spring ripped right apart from the table top....completely beyond repair. Although the exterior looks great the inside is cheap particle board. Save your money and get a different table.

I use this coffee table not as a coffee table only but for a lot of functions. We even have our dinner at this table. It is sufficient for two people and we enjoy having dinner in front of the fireplace. It is very beautiful, I love the rustic appearance. It was very easy to put together, the instructions were very clear. All the hardware were at the exact amount and very-well organized and numbered. First, I though that I would not be able to build it as the table top sounded sophisticated, which can be lifted and moved forward, but the instructions were so well organized, I could assemble it easily. I can relax on my couch and work with my laptop at this table by moving the top up and forward. I really love it! Beautiful and multi-functional!

I would give it a zero..it’s a terribly cheap horrible table, it barely lifts up if you use both hands and tons of force

Disappointed of the finish. Has a blemish on the material Should not have been used for the construction. I have photos I feel I should get a rebate It's more of a scratch Dent type sale.

For anyone thinking of purchasing this or anyone who has purchased this but hasn't put it together yet, a couple of hints that will help: 1. The instructions call for an adjustable wrench, but if you have a #10 wrench, that works much better. 2. Several times you'll need to attach parts to metal bars and braces with screws (Part 16). If you want to make your life a whole lot easier, before attaching the parts, screw the screws directly into the metal parts all the way, then unscrew them. Basically, you're creating the grooves into the metal parts, so when you attach other parts to them, it will make it so much easier, especially for the attachments that are a little awkward. With that said, I was impressed with how clear and complete the instructions were and how well the piece was designed. The end product looks fantastic and takes a lot less time than similar items I've purchased from Sauder (I've been purchasing most of my furniture from Sauder for going on three decades now). I will say that there are a couple of steps when you'll need someone's help. I did it all by myself, and it is doable, but it would have been a lot easier with someone's help. All in all, I was very pleased with this.

I like the look of this table, however it wasn’t the easiest to assemble. Screws going into the metal parts were absolutely impossible to line up correctly/ straight (I have a LOT of experience building furniture from a box) it took a very long time/ was frustrating. The lift mechanism is pretty stiff/ takes some muscle to lift, but hopefully with more use it will get easier

I love the look and wish it had matching end tables… without wheels.

Bought this about 5-6 months ago and it has already broken. It’s not sturdy anymore and the lift top part broke. Now we are too far past the date to return and out $400+.

This coffee table is absolutely beautiful and matches perfectly with my large rustic one. The assembly was very detailed and easy to read and understand.
