The packaging was impressive, and everything was clearly labeled, which made setup feel straightforward at first. However, my enthusiasm was tempered by a few practical setbacks. The device needed to be charged before use—a delay I hadn’t anticipated—and figuring out how to properly warm up the applicator took some trial and error despite following the instructions. When it came to application, the tool really shined for root touch-ups—quick, mess-free, and truly effortless. Unfortunately, applying color to the mid-lengths and ends was more cumbersome and felt unnecessarily complicated. As a former stylist, I found this part of the process less intuitive and more frustrating than simply using a traditional bottle and brush. Color-wise, the result was even and pretty, though not quite true to the label. I used shade 6A (Ash), hoping to cancel out warmth, but it didn’t deliver on that front as expected. Still, the color looked nice overall. In the end, I appreciate the innovation and the potential behind the Colorsonic system, but it didn’t quite win me over. For the price point, I’d expect a smoother, more versatile experience—especially for full-head color. That said, if you’re looking for a tool specifically for root touch-ups and want to avoid mess, this could be a game-changer.

The packaging labels everything so clearly and the videos really help guide you through it. The product itself had a bit of a weird smell, the color and conditioner both - I also felt my hair looked a little bit dry after (photo attached is the day after use) but I also have curly/frizzy hair which require a lot of moisture.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very interesting product. Mainly used it to hide gray hairs at root of hair and hair around my temples. Application was easy to control with minimal waste. It covered well and after 20-30 mins washed my hair and for the most part most of my gray hairs were covered and hair felt soft. Good selection of color choices for the cartridges. I think I would go one color darker next time. The device was a little intimidating at first but once I started using it it got easier. It is a little pricey but instead of going into a salon this is a good option.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a really awesome tool! I received this from Influenster. You basically charge the hand held dispenser. Load it with the hair dye that is already premixed for you, and the center teeth move to disperse the dye into your roots. Very cool, earth friendly packaging. Comes with a cartridge just for water for cleaning afterwards. I can’t say I’ve seen anything like this on the market before, but I’m not sure that I’d grab this to dye my roots. However, it is very precise, and much less messy. I think this would be cool to use for a professional, or someone who is doing the roots of multiple people. The pre mixed dye comes with a deep conditioning treatment as well. It’s very convenient! I’m not entirely sure I would reach for this to dye my roots and I’m not sure how long any extra dye can be saved for later use. Comes with a charger for the tool as well!

5 Stars – Quick, clean, and totally worth it! This product really impressed me. It was very easy to install and use, with a straightforward setup that took just minutes. I also love that it’s rechargeable—no dealing with cords or constantly changing batteries. While the device is a bit on the heavier side, it’s a fair tradeoff because the application process is much faster than the traditional way of dyeing hair. The dye went on smoothly, cleanly, and very precisely, and there was more than enough product included for full coverage. The whole experience felt much more efficient and less messy than usual. Overall, it’s a smart and effective tool that delivers great results without the usual hassle. I’d definitely recommend!

So I had previously had my hair dyed black so all I needed to do was a root touch up but I wanted to get the whole experience and do my whole head. It was really simple to use and troubleshooting was simple as well. The only thing I didn’t like was how thin the dye is. I understand it’s probably processed thinner so it doesn’t gunk up the machine, but I got more dye everywhere then if I do it out of a bottle. But cleaning it up was super easy. I’ve used other dyes that stain my skin and countertop instantly and this did not. It wiped right off. I’d probably use this more for root touch up then doing the whole head. It is a time saver though. I’ll be buying refills for this for sure.

When I started the application process, it seemed to be easy, and then the device started malfunctioning after doing a small section of my hair. After repeatedly trying to get the device to work, I gave up and washed my hair so I wouldn't end up looking like a skunk. The smell wasn't bad, and I couldn't say what the color would look like because I was scared to wait any longer. I didn't want to ruin my hair. I would not recommend or buy again.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My bf helped me to use it but to be honest it is easy to use on your own. the design is nice and it is lightweight , they have many color to use but the one I got does not show much on my hair because i have a dark black hair color. the smell is nice. it is not stain on your sink. would recommend it for people like to touch up their root and for grey hair .

On the one hand, it’s very easy to use, with detailed and clear instructions for assembly and operation, and it significantly speeds up the hair coloring process. On the other hand, this particular hair dye formula doesn’t work for me personally: my thick, coarse hair didn’t take the color within the given time. The manufacturer claims 100% gray coverage, but that didn’t happen in my case, at least not within the recommended 30 minutes. My conclusion: 1. The device is very good. 2. The dye is suitable for fine hair with a small amount of gray.

The color is a perfect match to my roots. The smell isn't as bad as most box hair dyes. I love the concept of this! The only thing I don't like is you aren't able to see how much product you have left. I would highly recommend this product as it leaves your hair feeling smooth and shiny!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I would’ve given this 5 stars if i would’ve loved the end color but it seemed to be uneven even though i follow the instructions on how to apply. I love the device itself and it was so easy to use and fast to apply. My hair feels healthy and very soft after washing it. I am going to purchase a different shade and try again to see if i notice a difference on the end result. I also wish it brought a little more product, my hair is not that long just below shoulders. Covered most of my grey hair but not all.

It had a bit of a learning curve at first, and there was a bit of color splash which was easily cleaned up. I found my hair color to be beautiful and vibrant and I was able to quickly apply the color to my coarse 3b curls with no tangling. It didn’t take the entire cartridge to cover my hair and I’m looking forward to using it for my roots later. My hair felt a little softer than before I colored and also looked shiny and healthy afterward. And that conditioner is amazing! Loreals technology is great, and im so excited for their upcoming brow printer, as I need angry eyebrows for when I have to go out and people.
