This compact SHARP alarm clock is ideal for saving space on your nightstand. The ascending alarm never startles you like traditional alarm clocks. It offers you a gentler wakeup experience. Q: Can the screen be easily seen during daytime or with lights on at night without hitting the backlight button? I do not want to have to turn it on to see the time. I need for it to be readable in natural or artificial light without backlight.

A: Hello. With battery operated clocks, the backlight is "on demand". You push the snooze button and the light will come on. It will turn itself off after several seconds. This allows you to see the time and maintain your battery life. It glows brightly in the dark but is also soothing to the eyes. Once you see the time, you can quickly go back to sleep in the darkness.

A: To adjust the time from AM to PM, just advance the time 12 hours. So if the clock is set to 6pm, advance it 12 hours to get 6am. A: Tap the SNOOZE/BACKLIGHT button to turn the backlight on for 5 seconds. There is no way to turn the backlight on permanently on this clock. A: The backlight is on-demand only, meaning it turns on for a few seconds each time the backlight button is pressed. There is no way to set it so the light stays on longer then a few seconds at a time. We recommend you keep the clock close to you at night.

Q: Does the snooze alarm turn off by itself when it goes off if it is not shut off by someone? Or will it keep going off until it is shut off?

A: When the alarm rings and the snooze button is pushed, the alarm will sound again in 5 minutes. The alarm will not sound again if you put the Alarm in the OFF position.

Hello Jennifer. If the clock shows no PM, then that means the clock is set to AM. Advance the clock 12 hours to get to the correct time.

Hello. The light is on demand. This means that you press the light button to get a glance of the time. This preserves the battery life. For always on time display, a clock that plugs into the wall may suit you. You will always see the time lit up and you will not have to constantly replace batteries.

Whenever I'm using the oven on my stove or the power goes out,I cant use the clock on my stove to tell the time. With this battery driven clock stuck to the top of my stove using some velcro tape, my problems are solved!

I wish I would have read the reviews before I bought. It indeed doesn’t stay blue. That’s why I bought it thinking I could just look over in the night without having to do anything. In order to see, I’ll have to hit the snooze button.

Alarm stopped working after 1 year. I set the alarm time properly and 75% of the time it goes off. 25% it either shuts itself off or makes no noise/doesn’t alarm. Makes a great clock but do not purchase it you want to risk not waking up

For the most part, it’s exactly what I needed. Small, simple, cordless. I don’t like alarm clocks that stay lit all night and light up the room, so I like that this one stays dark unless I hit the button. I will say, the light is VERY bright when you do hit it. I also hate that it’s blue (which disturbs your circadian rhythm — red would have been much better!). That detail aside, it works great and it’s a great value. The alarm is a bit loud for my preference, but it’s right next to my head so maybe that’s why.

It is cute and soft and I personally like that it stays dark unless you hit the snooze button, but the slide button to turn the alarm on and off too easily moves to the off position. Twice it has accidentally got moved to off when pushing the light bottom on. Not reliable.

Batteries die quickly

I had to replace the simple alarm clock I had been using for about ten years and bought this. I use rechargable batteries and with the old clock would have to recharge about twice a year. With this thing, I have to recharge weekly. If I don't, the blue light starts to fade and the display becomes increasingly hard to read. It's only $6, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but the previous Casio clock was also cheap (and even smaller) and worked much better. Only didn't replace it with another Casio because they stopped making them.

Thank you for your review. This clock is not meant to be used with rechargeable batteries. The clock will function much better with regular disposable batteries, which should last 6-12 months.
No permanent backlight

I purchase a specifically for the backlight. However, once I got the batteries in, I realize the backlight did not stay on all the time. You have to push the button. I wanted to place this across the room so I can see the time at night for the cost. I'll just keep it and use it elsewhere. It is nice and compact.

Alas, I would describe this as an alarm clock-shaped object. In the five days that I used it, it lost five minutes of time. One day, I reset the alarm to the time I needed to wake the following morning, and when I checked it before bed that night, the reset had not saved--it was set to go off at the previous alarm time. These discoveries saddened me, as I had thought the alarm clock was charming in its efficiency of design and also I had quite enjoyed the unusual tactile quality of its surfaces (soft, almost rubbery).

No good. Can't even hear the weak alarm. Will use just as a clock. So far, the clock function works okay, but if you need an alarm to wake you, as I do, the item is no good at all.
