A: A previous responder answered based on weight, not volume. A 5lb bag of flour has a volume of about 4.5 quarts or 144 oz. An entire bag of flour or sugar would not fit in this canister.

A: I bought this and a 5lb bag of whole wheat flour. Keeping in mind that we flour is a small amount heavier than white all purpose, it fit after I gently compressed it. If you bake and have a flour shaker to dust surfaces, filling that should take out just enough for it to fit packed. I bake by gram weight, so compacted flour won’t affect my recipes but if you measure by loosely scooped cups, you should fluff it up before scooping.
