A: No. Unless you find one that specifically says food safe, they have chemicals in them that are not safe for food. They are just to be used as a "placemat" for your plate.

Q: I know these chargers are not labeled as "food safe," but if I apply a food-safe mineral oil can it be used to serve food? Or, I could sand the surface of the plate and then apply a food-safe oil?

I like these chargers. One would think when items are shipped, they would be packed with protection. I ordered (10) chargers and they came in split shipments. Both shipments came in a bare box with NO wrap inside. Now they are scratched and chipped. Target what are you thinking? You cannot ship items without any protection. It will cost Target more to restock these. A major ding for Target. It's a shame because they were nice.

I like to use mine as a simple charcuterie plate at home. Beautiful charger, I just lay a piece of parchment paper down and load my fruit, cheese, crackers and jam. Enough space for a plate for two.
